The salmon swims upstream for a thousand miles and finds the exact place where it was spawned to lay its eggs and die. The bear wanders out to the right place in the stream to wait for the salmon to arrive from its long journey. The salmon doesn’t complain or fret over its lot in life, or its arduous struggle. The bear doesn’t retreat to the cave after an unsuccessful day of fishing and worry about the future, filled with self doubt. We humans do these things... Maybe we can learn a lesson from nature today, and just TRUST the process, stay in the PRESENT, and do what we KNOW to do.

Adjusting the Lens Through Which You See the World
Survivors
I’m a big believer in the importance of attitude, perspective and rising above the victim mentality... This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to meet some of the finest examples of this when I spoke to a group of Brain Injury Survivors at Southern Regional Hospital (I love the fact that they call themselves “survivors” and not victims). These are some of the most beautiful, courageous, and optimistic individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with. It reminds me that ANYONE can change, and we can ALL find purpose in this sometimes “roller coaster” existence. I salute them, and hope that we can imitate their attitude this day.

Mindset
I’m excited... Today I get the privilege of speaking at Southern Regional Hospital to a group of brain injury victims and health care professionals. I have and will again make it clear that I am NOT a Doctor (I don’t even play one on TV!), but they still want me to speak about attitude and mindset— which I LOVE to do. I am convinced, and science has proven that the mind has tremendous capabilities to repair, reprogram and rewire itself according to how we think, react, respond and experience life— so I’ll talk about how I’ve seen that principle at work in my life and the people I work with... However, I’m the most excited about meeting these wonderful people and spending some precious time with them— I’m a lucky man.

Live Life
Today’s CHOICE: I will notice and appreciate what comes before me today. I will EXPERIENCE it. I will really “see” what comes into my path today: the sights, the colors, the shapes, all the unique individuals... I will try to “listen” to all who speak to me today; the sounds, the words, the music all around me... I will pay attention to the smells that I encounter today: the good ones, the bad ones, the evidence of humanity and nature... I will take the time to “taste” the food that I eat today: not in too big a hurry to miss the simple pleasures... I will “feel” the emotions that pass through me today as I encounter people, places and things on my journey... I wonder how many times I’ve missed the wonderful sights, sounds, smells, tastes and feelings around me, in me and through me, just because I was trying to get “somewhere else.” I’ll choose to stay PRESENT today... Care to join me?

Labor of love
“Fear knocked at the door... Love answered, and there was no one there.” Perfect love drives out fear, and fear tends to be the biggest enemy of success and victory... Why not focus on the aspects of your work that you LOVE today. Take your focus and attention off of the things that you fear: the challenges, obstacles or what MIGHT happen, and focus solely on your target. Find the love in your labor, for that IS true success.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Found
Some find Him in their fear. Others find Him in their pain. Some find Him in their victory, and others in their shame. Some find Him in the darkness, when they feel all alone. Others find Him in the crowd, or in a place they never intended to roam... The whole point down here? Just FIND Him. He's not far; He's everywhere, all the time, and He's been following you all along. (Sometimes all we need to do is open our eyes)

Possibilities
What do I REALLY believe is possible today? Can good fortune really just show up? Can the person that really needs my help the most just happen to meet me? Can just the right opportunity for my family magically appear? Can the perfect idea that will take my work to the next level just pop into my head? Can I have a day of ridiculous success and victory? What I BELIEVE is possible today, makes ALL the difference. Why can’t ALL those things show up in my life today? I believe they can, and perhaps they will. (Go find it, it’s looking for you)

Attention
I'm on my way to spend time this morning speaking to a large group of teens. This generation needs purpose, power and passion more than ever... The brain is ALWAYS learning, and pays careful attention to what WE pay attention to. It rewires and reprograms itself according to what WE show is most important to us. Focus on drama, negativity and stress all day, and THAT is what your brain is learning, wiring and searching for MORE of. Don't give your valuable time, energy and attention today to things you do not want MORE of. Seek what you truly desire, for it is seeking you.

Cinderella Stories
March Madness... I love it. Because anything can happen: any team can win on any given night; upsets are the norm; and nothing is a “given.” Real life is a lot like that: great comebacks really do happen; the “favorite” doesn’t always prevail; David sometimes slays Goliath... People love an underdog and typically pull for a great comeback. That’s good news for you and me today. It means that the odds don’t really matter and anything IS possible. Go write your own “Cinderella Story” today— we’re all pullin’ for you.

Character
Character: “the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing; moral or ethical quality; qualities of honesty, courage, or the like; integrity.” We know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, HOPE. And hope does not disappoint us... What people need right now is hope. Let’s not be so quick to complain and spread the bad news out there. Suffering and perseverance are doing their good and important work, so that we can have strong character and lots of much needed HOPE. Trials are never fun or comfortable, but they are very important. Let’s try not to waste them today.

Momentum
Momentum: “force or speed of movement; impetus, as of a physical object or course of events: The car gained momentum going downhill. Her career lost momentum after two unsuccessful films.” Everything we do today will affect momentum: thoughts, emotions and actions; these determine the course of our day. The CHOICES we make today will either increase our momentum, or shift our energy in another direction. Today I will choose carefully and continue to build positive momentum, as I create space for good news to show up in my life... Go FIND some great news today— it’s all around you.

Perspective
Imagine yourself at the end of your days. A long life, well-lived; your body worn, but still beautiful. Eyes focused, with the wisdom and strength that come from experience. A deep spirituality, born out of many years of living, learning and growing. This old soul KNOWS what is and isn’t so important... Now ask that older, wiser “you” if the things that you’re so worried about today will matter when you get to that future place in time. Sometimes a little perspective makes ALL the difference. Now, I’ll go and try to focus on the things that REALLY matter today.

Open Doors
People pray. Doors open. Sometimes we walk through. Strangers become friends. Doors close again. We worry and fret, and pray some more. New doors open. We run through. Now we have a story to tell. Friends become partners along our journey... The lesson? Look for the open doors; don’t worry about the ones that close; find a friend; learn to TRUST the process (God is good ALL the time, all the time God IS good).

Overcome
Overcome: “to gain the victory, win, conquer; to overpower or overwhelm; to get the better of in a struggle or conflict; to prevail over the opposition, debility, or temptations.” I LOVE being around Over-Comers. I am blessed to be surrounded by them all the time, and they INSPIRE me. Men who are overcoming drug and alcohol addiction; incarcerated men who are overcoming unbelievable odds as they rehabilitate broken lives; kids who are overcoming abuse and neglect in the inner city neighborhoods; and professionals who are overcoming economic obstacles and opposition as they rebuild or relaunch their careers... Here’s to those who will find the courage and power deep within themselves to OVERCOME today (you are the true, unsung heroes).

Participate
Today is a VERY important day... You are needed, and there is very important, specific work to be done. There are things that need to be said. There are people who need to be met. There are tasks that need to be accomplished. There are individuals that need to be heard. There are deeds that need to be done. There are souls that need to be served. There are sacrifices that need to be made. There is a life that needs to be lived... And who will speak, listen, act, serve, love and give, if not you and me? Yes, today is a VERY important day. Please show up and be AVAILABLE. Thank you for your participation in LIFE today.

Miracles
Miracle: “an extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause; an event that appears inexplicable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural in origin or an act of God.” Some people say that miracles don’t happen anymore. I'm not one of those people. I believe miracles happen EVERY day; we’ve just developed sophisticated ways of explaining them away... A child’s cancer simply disappears; a hopeless addict puts down the pipe; a gangbanger chooses love over respect; a death row inmate finds a purpose; a marriage on the rocks finds love again; a family in financial ruin finds a way out of the storm... Please don’t try to tell me that God isn’t in the miracle business any more. Just OPEN YOUR EYES today and look at the world through eyes of faith. You’ll be amazed what you find.

Fear vs. Faith
“Don’t be afraid, just BELIEVE. Did I not tell you that IF you believe, you would SEE the glory of God?” It seems to me that fear is the enemy of victory. When we turn our focus and energy to fear, and what we lack, and what we dread, then we remove our powerful attention from what is POSSIBLE and from the source of our miraculous answer. Today I will focus my thoughts, my desires, and my SIGHT on what is unseen, what is possible, and what is PROMISED to me... It turns out to be a much better plan than worry, dread and fear. I hope you set your frequency on faith as well.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Believe
“Everything is possible for him who believes.” That means NOTHING is impossible. If you can conceive it, you can achieve it. EVERYTHING; no limits, no boundaries, no ceilings, and the ONLY thing that gets in the way is a lack of faith. So why not go for it? Stretch your imagination, expect a miracle, and put it to the test... What have you got to lose? Oh yeah, and by the way: VERY LITTLE is possible for him who doubts. Miracles are waiting...for the BELIEVERS.

Trials
I just returned from spending the day in a Federal Court Room with my young friend, who I have shared about previously. His trial has now become a Federal Case (which you might have heard about in the news) and he is in desperate need of your prayers. I know that many who read this have been affected by violent crime, and this young man has made some serious mistakes in his life; but over the past year, I have witnessed a powerful change within him. He has taken responsibility for his actions, sincerely sought forgiveness, and has now devoted the rest of his life to helping kids choose a better way... Please pray for his redemption-- I truly believe that he still has some very important work to do down here.

Originality
Original: “arising or proceeding independently of anything else; created, undertaken, or presented for the first time; an original work, as opposed to any copy or imitation; fresh and unusual.” Aren’t you glad that we’re all assorted and unique? How boring would it be if we were all alike, just a bunch of clones and robots? But we’re not; each one of us is wildly individual, and there’s NEVER been another just like you. You are the EXACT combination of molecules, DNA, soul, spirit and energy that the world needs; and you have been put here at JUST the right time, and at JUST the right place, in order to fulfill your intended purpose. The fun part? Trying to find out what that is... Dig deep and figure it out— but for heaven’s sake, don’t be unoriginal (you were born to stand out).

Stubborn Dreamers
What EXACTLY do you want today? What would happen if you set ALL of your focus, attention, energy, determination and desire on THAT and that alone... Removing all distractions, worry, excuses, complaining and fear— what if you went after that target like you’ve gone after every other thing in your life that you REALLY wanted? All your passion, zeal and fervor focused like a laser beam on one deliberate pursuit… Do you really think you’d be denied? We usually get what we REALLY want, because we’re willing to do whatever it takes. The problem comes as we get older and begin to explain away our dreams and desires... Here’s to all you Stubborn Dreamers out there who refuse to take NO for an answer. Salute!

Friends
Once upon a time, a man fell into a large pit. Unable to climb out, he began to yell for help. The first to come along was a doctor. He wrote him a prescription, dropped it into the hole and went on his way. Next, along came a priest. He offered up a prayer, and continued on down the road. Then a teacher happened upon the man. He wrote an assignment, dropped it into the pit, and simply walked on… Then a FRIEND came along, and he jumped into the hole with the man. “Now why did you go and do that?” the man said, “now we’re both stuck.” Then the friend replied “I’ve been in THIS hole before, and I know the way out.” How can we really help anyone if we don’t fall into a few holes along the way? Keep your head up, there IS a plan.

It's all about LOVE.
I imagine as we look back over our lives, the thing that will stand out the most is LOVE; who you loved, what you loved and who loved you... There are different types of love: the protective love of a parent for a child; the “puppy love” in high school; the mature love of a seasoned marriage; the enduring love of a best friend; the faithful love of a dog; the exhilarating love of a new relationship; the adoring love of a child for a parent; the unique love of a grandparent for a new born; the unequaled love of God... If it’s all about love (and I believe it is) then maybe we should focus some of our valuable time and energy on it TODAY. Pick up the phone, write a note, or just drop by and tell someone “I love you.” It very well might be the most important thing you do all day.

Just be YOU.
Today, just be the “you” that you WISH to be... Walk tall, laugh loudly, give much, feel deeply, listen long, hug closely, love sincere, speak boldly, play hard, live richly, and be ALIVE. You’ll be amazed at what you find: you’ll find in yourself, a MUCH better person than you ever dreamed yourself to be... Enjoy THIS day (for it’s the only one you truly ever have).

Redemption Song
Redemption: “deliverance or rescue; repurchase, as of something sold; reclaimed upon payment of ransom.” I love that beautiful Bob Marley anthem “Redemption Song.” It reminds me of MY rescue. I was delivered, purchased, brought back from captivity, and bought at a price… I’ll never forget it, and I LOVE to tell the story. What if ALL those who have been rescued, took a moment to reflect, give thanks, and rededicate themselves today— not out of duty, but out of sheer gratitude. How would that change your world? Sing your “Songs of Freedom” today; sing it loud and strong… Sing it like you MEAN it.

Perseverance
Perseverance: “steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state; especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.” I spent time last night with about 100 men at the Atlanta Union Mission who personify perseverance. Through many trials and hardships, they keep getting back up and coming BACK (and because of that, they keep getting stronger, tougher, and better prepared to handle life’s storms). It works that way for all of us: the longer we hang in, following our dream, learning from our mistakes, rebounding from failure, rising from defeat— we get more resilient, and become the seasoned, mature, complete people we were intended to be. The tough times make us into the Champions we long to be. (That’s why “Rocky” is the greatest movie of all time, right?)

Transformation
I'm on my way to see a good friend this morning... The word that comes to mind is "transformation". The change that I have witnessed in his life is more dramatic than that of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. He has spent the better part of the last 12 years on the streets, and sincerely regrets many of the choices he has made. However, now incarcerated, he is doing some very powerful soul work; he has turned his focus and energy toward trying to help kids stay away from gangs and crime. He has begun to write his life story and intends to create a childrens book to help young people find alternatives to the life he chose... I am inspired to believe that ANYONE can change, NO MATTER WHAT-- if they just find the desire.

Target Practice
Opportunities are never lost, they are just found by someone else; typically by those who are PREPARED to notice them… We don’t see with our eyes, but rather our brains. We are bombarded with billions of bits of information every moment, but our minds only become AWARE of what is important and relevant to us (which varies depending on our frame of mind). Fix your thoughts, focus and attention on good news and opportunity, and your brain literally goes to work seeking what it believes is ultra important to you. Obsess on bad news, doom and gloom and— well, you get the picture... Pick your target carefully; we find what we LOOK for (and this is a “target rich” environment.)
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Obsession
Our brains have developed to be somewhat obsessive. If we didn’t obsess to some extent, then we would have a hard time concentrating, paying attention or staying on task. The problem comes when obsession becomes chronic or compulsive, but a healthy brain IS obsessive to a degree... So, what will you “obsess” on today? Why not CHOOSE to obsess on a thought or idea that serves you? “I have plenty of everything that I need; life is good; I feel great; Good things ALWAYS happen to me.” (You get the picture) The mind has the powerful ability to begin to CREATE or FIND what you give your focus and attention to, so why not make it a “Healthy Obsession.” Or not, it's up to you.

Engage
Life is meant to be LIVED... Some avoid it, put it off, fight it, resist it, or just put up with it-- while all the while, it's meant to be lived! Life is one continuous, live, adventurous, present moment, and the more we engage in the ride, the more we understand how fascinating and thrilling it really is... If everything went your way, ALL of the time, wouldn't you be bored and spoiled? Here's to all those who choose to ENGAGE and give it their all today-- I'll see you out on the field.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Courage
How would your life be different if you eliminated, say, 90% of your fear? Just imagine life free from fear. It limits us in so many ways: fear of the future, fear of strangers, fear of failure, fear of financial loss or economic disaster, fear of potential health problems, and the list goes on and on… Psychologists tell us that 99% of the things that we fear NEVER come to pass— so why should we obsess on things that aren’t even real? Makes more sense to focus your very valuable time, energy and attention on what you desire and wish to create (things outside of your control will carry on whether you worry about them or not). I’d just rather choose a life strategy free from worry and fear and focus on my dreams and desires— of course, if worry, fear and doubt work for you, then knock yourself out!

Living life On Purpose
Will you live life today by accident (default) or On Purpose? Intention: I will set clearly defined goals for what I will find and accomplish TODAY... Affirmation: I will remind myself throughout the day of who I really AM and of the power that I possess... Vision: I will keep a crystal clear picture in my mind of where I intend to go and my personal and collective mission... Intention, affirmation and vision: strategies of a life lived “On Purpose”. Care to join me?

Come Alive
At the end of a long life lived, people tend to look back and remember the things they did (good and bad) but regret the things they DIDN’T do. Life is short… Go ahead and do the thing that stirs your passion today. Bag the sophisticated excuses, safety nets, and back doors— do what makes you come ALIVE (because the world desperately needs people who have “come alive”).
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Appreciation
Appreciate: “to be grateful or thankful for; to value, regard highly, or place a high estimate on; to be fully conscious of, aware of, or detect; to raise in value.” Who will we appreciate today? How about the one who waits on you and delivers your meal? What about parking attendant, or the cashier? How about the one bagging groceries or the man who takes your garbage away… It feels SO good to be appreciated; as a matter of fact, it can change someone’s day— even the course of their life, if it rarely happens to THEM. Make someone’s day today; appreciate someone who might need it a little more than the next guy. You never know, it could make ALL the difference.

New Beginnings
Snow in Georgia... We don’t get to see it very often, especially a bright blanket like the one that we see this morning: fresh, clean, and glistening in the morning sunshine. It reminds me of new beginnings; everything wiped clean, with a brand new start... Can you imagine if we didn’t have new beginnings every day? No dusk or dawn; no sunrise or sunset; no restful break to renew and recover? But we DO. Every day we wake up anew... Make the most of it: leave yesterday behind— with all of its victories, defeats, pleasure, pain, success and sorrows. Start today FRESH and BRAND NEW—the way it was meant to be... A “Do Over!”
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Opportunity
Opportunity: “an appropriate or favorable time or occasion; a situation or condition favorable for attainment of a goal; a good position, chance, or prospect, as for advancement or success.” How many “open doors” do you think we walk by every day? I mean the ones that we don’t notice, or that our minds aren’t PREPARED to see: people who have our answer; clients who really need what we have to offer; prospects who fit exactly what we’re looking for; or simply much desired, answered prayers… We must prepare our minds to find what we are looking for— the answers are literally all around us. (What I seek is already seeking me— I hope it “finds” you today.)

The Mind's Eye
In your mind’s eye, imagine yourself on the most wonderful day of your life. The best “You” that you’ve ever been: your eyes clear, bright and focused; your mind sharp, alert and creative; your body sleek, strong and capable; your spirit alive, strong and vibrant; see yourself running and laughing uncontrollably... Got the picture? Now take a long, hard look into the eyes of that person, which is the BEST and HIGHEST version of you— burn that image into your vision… Now go and give that beautiful, talented, unique and exceptional person to the world today (and forget all that other “clutter” that does not serve you). Salute!
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Gratitude
Gratitude is SO powerful. Through it, everything seems to make sense... Difficulties are opportunities for growth; failures are merely momentary setbacks; suffering is a chance to dig down and find a deeper, more authentic part of yourself. Without it, nothing makes much sense. Failures appear final; people are viewed as threats; and hope seems to fade… My wish for you today, is a day filled with GRATITUDE. Just give thanks: for your family, or your health, for your job, or a friend; or just the opportunity to have another day. The peace we seek sometimes hides in gratitude.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Focus
Focus: “to concentrate attention or energy; a central point, as of attraction, attention, or activity; a condition in which something can be clearly apprehended or perceived.” Many things will come into my awareness today; some good and some not so good. People, circumstances, opportunities, obstacles, victories and defeats... Whatever gets my very valuable attention WILL expand, because whatever I FOCUS on begins to grow. Therefore, as my good friend Dr. Bob says: “Don’t be like the kamikaze pilot who flew 37 missions.” Pick your target carefully, and stick with it.

Surprise!
Great time last night with my wife, kids and some really good friends— laughing, cheering, eating, and listening to the kids laugh and play (the best thing about the game was the company). It doesn’t get much better than that... The big news: our oldest son Justin and his wife Jen are expecting— I’m gonna be a Grandpa! Today I am grateful for all that God continues to do. It’s not all fun, and it’s not always easy, but life IS good and I will walk in gratitude and joy today... I hope you find some too.

Freedom
I’m looking forward to my time up at Hays State Prison today… About 100 men out of the 1200 in the general population will be with us, trying to change and become better men. I believe that some will come out one day and make a positive difference in the world-- some will not... Many people in the “free world” will try to make a difference today as well-- some will not. (We ALL get to choose—let us choose wisely.)

Serendipity
Serendipity: “an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident; good fortune, luck.” Perhaps making “desirable discoveries” is really no accident at all. We've all stumbled into a space from time to time, where everything just seems to flow: thoughts come easy, energy is high, relationships are smooth, and good news just seems to show up— athletes call it being in the Zone... What if “the zone” is a state of awareness that we can access at will? Lebron, Kobe, Peyton, Phelps and others seem to get there more times than not (and it seems to transcend mere talent). Here’s to finding your groove today, and staying in it for a while. (and I’m pretty sure worrying isn’t the secret pathway to “The Zone”) --Try expecting what you seek.

The Future is Bright
The future is bright… Don’t believe all the hype: people telling you how bad the market is; how dark the world is; how terrible people have become. Typically, those people are either addicted to drama, selling something, or just stuck in a rut and seeing the world through a dismal lens... The present (which is all we ever have) is what you DECIDE to make it, and has nothing more to do with circumstances than what you allow. Regardless of external events, I have the power to choose how I see reality: and I say, the future is BRIGHT. (So for me, it is. Care to join me?)

Stress
Resistance: “A force that tends to oppose or retard motion; opposition, obstinacy, defiance, intransigence.” Stress is at an all-time high, and it continues to rise. Stress is a killer: it's been linked to all of the leading causes of death-- heart disease, cancer, accidents and suicide. If we continually resist what we cannot control, the product is stress; we remain in a perpetual state of “fight or flight” and the body continues to over-produce adrenaline and cortisol (both can be harmful if unchecked). However, if we ACCEPT what we cannot control, and ENGAGE in positively changing the things that we can, peace and serenity flow into our lives… So RELAX; it might just save your life.

Light at the end of the tunnel...
Think of a time when you were at the end of your rope, back against the wall, with seemingly no way out. Then just the right person showed up at just the right time, with a solution, an answer, a special gift, and showed you the way through… If you feel like you’re in that place right now, just keep LOOKING for the light at the end of the tunnel (a way out is ALWAYS provided). If you’re not in that place, just keep looking for the person who needs your help— perhaps YOU are just the right person, at just the right time, with just the right gift, walking into that tunnel with a light.

Bridges
The highlight of last night’s Grammies for me was when Andrea Bocelli and Mary J. Blige sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for Haiti; it was absolutely electrifying (the tribute to Michael Jackson by Smokey Robinson and friends was also very powerful). When I see someone giving their gift with passion and enthusiasm, it moves me... Imagine our planet if EVERYONE was giving their special gift to another— what a wonderful world it would be. Why not give something away today? Who knows, you might receive the most of all.

Antoine
I’ve gotten to know a wonderful little boy named Antoine. He’s nine years old and lives in a tough area of Atlanta, and recently lost his grandmother (which is why he is in our group at his elementary school). What he really needs is somebody to believe in him. He is filled with beauty and potential— you can see it in his eyes. However, he is at risk to get caught up with the wrong crowd, and choose a whole different path... Aren’t we all a little like Antoine somehow? We just need someone to believe in us, and show us a better way. Whether you feel like it or not, there is One who believes in you ALL the time; and there IS a better way. (Take care out there)

Judge: “to form a judgment or opinion of; decide upon critically; to infer, think, or hold as an opinion; conclude about or assess.” It's impossible to accurately measure a person with my eyes alone. How can I really know what they’ve been through, unless they allow me to get close enough to see? The good times, the bad, the failures, the mistakes, the relationships, heartaches, dreams, loved ones, tough breaks, victories, defeats, love and pain... How can I ever presume to know all those things by merely sizing them up with a glance? Walk a mile in their shoes and then, just MAYBE, I get a glimpse of what it feels like to be them for a day. EVERYONE has a story— and we ALL just need to be loved.

Unity
Unity: “oneness of mind, feeling, etc., among a number of persons; concord, harmony, or agreement; the state of being united or combined into one, as of the parts of a whole; unification.” Unity doesn’t typically just "happen"; it needs to be created, built or forged… Last night I spent several hours with a group of men forging unity. It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t painless, but it was powerful and very important for us. "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity." What would I do without strong, men of conviction in my life? I don’t want to know.

Get in the Game
You matter. If no one has told lately: you REALLY do matter. You bring unique gifts and talents to the game that are sorely missed when you don’t play. And it’s not just all the good stuff you bring; it’s EVERYTHING that makes you “YOU.” The good, the bad, the ugly, the quirks, the beauty, all the flaws and idiosyncrasies— the amazing combination of everything that is YOU. Please play today; we need you in the game. (and it’s not nearly as much fun when you stay on the bench)

It's a good life...
Gratitude, optimism and enthusiasm: it’s hard to keep a person down who possesses these three powerful attributes... I've seen it in the homeless, the incarcerated, and the physically challenged: being grateful for what you HAVE, choosing to see the GOOD in people and circumstances, and LIVING life with passion and zeal, is a gift; one that can transform a life... Don’t believe all the hype: it’s still a GOOD LIFE. (even with all the drama)
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Charity
Charity: “benevolence or generosity toward others or toward humanity; generous actions or donations to aid the poor, ill, or helpless; something given to a person or persons in need.” If you got a chance to watch the benefit for Haiti last night, you got a chance to see true charity in action. Musicians performed moving selections and volunteers were shown desperately trying to save the people on that grief stricken island. It truly moved me... Sometimes it takes a disaster to bring it out, but there is a beautiful, generous place deep inside of EVERY one of us that just wants to help a brother, sister or child in need. When it peeks out, you get a little glimpse of God.

Relax
I know things get pretty intense sometimes; but it helps to get a little perspective: the Hubble recently captured a unique photo from deep space. When a large star dies, a magnificent explosion blasts light in all directions traveling at 186,000 miles a second. Light from an ancient Super Nova recently completed its journey and FINALLY reached the Earth—and Hubble grabbed the picture… Scientists have determined the ray of light from that “Star Death” had been traveling for 13 BILLION years before it finally reached its destination (the farthest event ever captured on film). Try to get your mind wrapped around how big our universe really is—and more importantly, just how big and powerful our Creator is. Relax—everything’s gonna be alright.

Power
Power: “The capacity to perform effectively; the ability to do or to act; capability of doing or accomplishing something; energy, force, or momentum.” Everybody wants it; we all need it; it’s obvious when we see it; but so few seem to have much nowadays— real POWER... It tends to be elusive at times, and when we try to force it, we seem to lose it. In my opinion, true power comes from a source beyond ourselves, that we tap into from within ourselves. When I connect with my true purpose and highest calling, and when I live with integrity and authenticity, a power seems to flow through me which is hard to describe. I wish that power for YOU today.

Generosity
Generosity: “readiness or liberality in giving; freedom from meanness or smallness of mind or character; nobility of thought or behavior.” If there was ever a time when generosity stands out, it is now… We are living in times when people are tempted more than ever to tighten the fist and look the other way. Generosity is not just about money: you can give your time, talent, encouragement, love, comfort, advice, or just an ear to listen. Generous people are the most FREE; because you open up the floodgates when you give, and more of what you give flows back to you— in abundance (so that you will have MORE to give). Here's to the GIVERS today; what would we do without you?

Participate
I’m going to LAUGH a lot today (I know that laughter makes me healthier physically, mentally and emotionally). I’m going to engage in random acts of kindness today (I know that GIVING affects my body chemistry and energy level in a very positive way). I’m going to monitor my thought patterns today (I know that whatever gets my valuable focus and attention EXPANDS, and I want positive thoughts to dominate my head space). I’m going to be GRATEFUL for what I have today (I know that gratitude opens up the flow, so that more good things can come into my life). I will be an active participant in LIFE today, and remember that ALL things are possible... I'll see you out on the field.

Expectation
Expectation: “the act or state of looking forward or anticipating; a thing looked forward to; the degree of probability that something will occur.” I believe in great expectations; being SURE of what I hope for, and CERTAIN of what I do not see. When I am in that place, I literally go out LOOKING for the things that I desire (and we tend to find exactly what we look for). The problem occurs when I have expectations for YOU— then I tend to get disappointed… Today, I will search for my goals, dreams and desires to be fulfilled (and I’ll leave what you do up to YOU.)

Divine Appointments
Divine appointments… Coincidents, random events, chance meetings, seemingly unconnected events that wind their way through a given day; then occasionally, EVERYTHING seems connected. A traffic jam that makes you late; an appointment that falls through and frees up part of your day; a flat tire that brings along a complete stranger… Suddenly, someone shows up at JUST the right time, with just the right word, deed or answered prayer. Random coincident or divine appointment? Try looking at your day today as if everything is there for a reason, and everything is part of a grand design. You’ll be surprised what you find.

Compassion
Compassion: “a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.” Compassionate people stand out in today’s world: they’re deep, and not shallow; they have lots of friends, and usually aren’t lonely; they’re busy, and rarely bored; they’re givers, and for the most part, not takers; they tend to be happy, and typically aren't sad; when they’re in trouble, people show up in droves… Notice your brother or sister in need today— it might just set YOU free.

Today
Just for TODAY… I will do my best to walk in integrity; I will consider other’s needs, not just my own; I will try to listen and learn, and not assume that I know; I will try to consider what it’s like to walk in another’s shoes, before I judge; I will give my gift, knowing that someone else needs what I have to offer; I will love my wife, and be a good example for my kids; I will do my best to make the world a better place; I will be the change that I seek in the world… Just for TODAY: I will be the me that I know I CAN be.

Courage
Courage INSPIRES me… There are examples of courage all around us: it takes courage to get back into the battle after failing miserably; to allow yourself to love again after your heart has been broken; to ask for the sale one more time, after hearing NO all day long; to take a stand against injustice when you’re the ONLY one; to try something that no one has ever attempted before; to continue to work hard at something you really don’t like, because you really DO love your family; to get back up just one more time after a tough day... There are many kinds of courage. Try noticing those brave souls that you will encounter today; and show them some much deserved love.

Opportunity
Opportunity: “an appropriate or favorable time or occasion; a situation or condition favorable for the attainment of a goal; a good position, chance, or prospect for advancement or success.” The open door, the break that you’ve been waiting for, someone taking a chance on you, being at the right place at the right time—opportunities. We look for them, wait on them, pray for them, and hope for just the right one to come along… But where are they right now? I believe that they are ALL around us every day; we just have to open our eyes, and be PREPARED to see them… By the way, when it “knocks” don’t be surprised if it’s disguised. (the best ones usually are)

Determination
Determination: “the act of coming to a decision, or fixing or settling on a purpose; the quality of being resolute; firmness of purpose; a fixed purpose or intention.” We’ve seen it in athletes, students, cancer survivors, civil rights leaders, mountain climbers, etc. and it’s INSPIRING… What do YOU want, and how BAD do you want it? I hope your answer is bigger than that excuse that’s been following your dream around. Put that imposter out of its misery, and just "go for it."
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Optimism
Optimism: “a disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions, and to expect the most favorable outcome; the belief that good ultimately triumphs over evil in the world.” That’s right; I’m an unashamed, unbridled, unyielding OPTIMIST. I choose to focus on the good, to trust to a fault, and to assume that everything is going to work itself out. Call it “seeing the glass half full” or just “looking at the world through rose-colored glasses”, but that is how I CHOOSE to live... Care to join me? (Trust me; it beats the heck out of the alternative)

Intention
Intention: “an act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result; purpose or attitude toward the effect of one's actions or conduct.” Instead of making resolutions once a year (which sometimes carry added pressure, and oftentimes are followed by guilt), why not start each day with powerful INTENTIONS? An intention not only engages the mind, will, and intellect, but also brings into play the strong emotions attached to your desire… Today I intend to help someone; I intend to make a difference in the life of someone who needs some encouragement; I intend to carry a message of compassion, hope and inspiration to the world. I look forward to seeing WHO this intention will bring into my life today.

Resiliency
Resiliency: “the power or ability to return to original form or position, after being bent, compressed, or stretched; elasticity; the ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like; buoyancy.” Science and medicine tell us that one of the most important factors contributing to a long life span is emotional resiliency. This year, try to bounce back quickly from failure; resolve conflicts sooner, rather than later; forgive, rather than hold resentments; relax and reconsider, before reacting; let go of the “grudge” that is only hurting YOU… Try not to take yourself too seriously—we want you around for a long, long time.

Reflection
In my mind’s eye, I imagine MYSELF at 88 years of age… Tall, thin and gangly, with a fluffy head of white hair (kind of like Jimmy Stewart, in his later years). After a long, full life, I look back over the years at what were the most important moments, turning points, decisions and priorities. What would I change? Would I have regrets? Now, as I imagine this old ME, I ask myself two very important questions: First, if I could go back to THIS day, what would I focus my very valuable time and attention on? Secondly, what were the things that I spent precious time worrying about, that really didn’t matter… Just maybe, I can LEARN something from that old man today.

Newness
My wish for you on this New Year’s Day: that you LOVE a little deeper, and HUG a little tighter; that you speak a little gentler, and listen a little longer; that you judge a little less, and feel a little more; that you notice other's needs, and your own a little less; that your dreams awaken, and your fears subside; that you find yourself a much better person than you ever knew yourself to be... My wish for you today: that you see INSIDE yourself, the wondrous, beautiful, unique creation that you were fashioned to be. Happy NEW Year. (Everything IS New)

Just Believe
Just BELIEVE… Believe that you CAN make a difference. Believe that the world CAN be a better place. Believe that people really CAN change. Believe that miracles really DO happen. Believe that you CAN "teach an old dog new tricks". Believe that your BEST days are ahead of you. Believe that you’re always in the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time, and you're the luckiest person in the world... Believing changes everything: it opens doors, creates possibilities, unleashes potential, and releases the magic. Be a Believer in 2010: EVERYTHING is possible for him who believes.

Resolution
Have you ever noticed that the huge crystal ball dropping in Times Square every year doesn’t magically fix everything? Even the best and most sincere New Year’s resolutions tend to slowly fade away in January… Why? Because deep thought patterns are "grooved" into the network of our brains, and beliefs and habits are always THOUSANDS of times more powerful than our desires. If we want something we’ve never had this New Year, then we’ve got to do something we’ve never done: think new thoughts. “If I can conceive it, then I can ACHIEVE it.” How about this for a New Year’s resolution: a NEW MIND.

Fear vs. Faith
Fear versus Faith: which one makes more sense as a life strategy? Faith is being SURE of what I hope for and CERTAIN of what I do not see. On the other hand, Psychology tells us that 99% of the things that we fear, NEVER materialize; still, so many people live their lives obsessed with what MIGHT happen next... As a strategy, I would rather keep my eyes and mind fixed on what I DESIRE in my life, and assume that the setbacks along the way are there to better prepare me for all the good that lies ahead. Of course, if fear works better for you as a life plan, then knock yourself out. (It IS an effective motivator, if you can just get past all the paralysis, stress and general anxiety)

Perspective
What if we looked at things differently today? What if I CHOSE to see the good in everyone I meet, and disregard their “faults”? What if I chose to see challenges as opportunities, instead of obstacles? What if I chose to focus on the things in my life that I HAVE, instead of what I lack? What if I filled my head with things I desire, hope for and dream about, instead of what I dread? What if I completely flip the script, and view the world from a new perspective today: I don’t know, let’s say GRATITUDE and HOPE… You think that might change the kind of day I'd have? Let's give it a shot, shall we?

Faith
I can’t imagine life without faith… There is so much about life that is a mystery to me; so many things that I can’t understand, touch, feel, see or comprehend. Some things I just have to “know”. I KNOW that there is someone watching over me. I KNOW that He has my back, and that ALL things are under His control. I know He doesn’t make mistakes, never overlooks the details, and always shows up on time. He ALWAYS has the patience and concern to listen to my problems, and always comes through with the EXACT thing that I need— EVERY time… I can’t explain it, I just KNOW. I can’t imagine living life without faith. (I’ve tried, by the way, and it's exhausting)

Worth
You are LOVED... Whether it feels like it, looks like it, seems like it, or if you're in a place where you just have to trust-- YOU are loved... It's what today's all about. You are worth MORE than you can ever fathom. My wish to you: that you "role around" in that love today. Merry Christmas.

Joy
I believe everyone longs to experience true joy; that’s why the holidays can be tough for many people. We’ve all been there at times in our lives, but unfortunately it seems rare these days; I think a lot of people are looking for it in the wrong places... You definitely won’t find it in “things”, and it doesn’t come from more money (although we’ve all searched there). I believe true joy hides in COMPASSION, and is triggered by GRATITUDE—some of the last places we’d look… I sincerely hope you find some this holiday season, for it is buried deep inside of every one of us.

Second Chances
I’m very grateful to be going to spend some time with a new, good friend today… He's just been released from Hays State Prison, and will now begin his new life in the “free world”. He’s a good man who made a mistake, paid his debt, and will start to rebuild his life again. He has a wife and child, and sincerely wants to change. Thank God for second chances… Where would we ALL be without them?

Peace
Peace: “freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, or obsession; a state of mutual harmony between people or groups; freedom from any strife or dissension; tranquility, serenity.” Everybody wants it, yet so few truly possess it. It seems so elusive, but it hides inside of EVERY one of us… Just relax: everything ALWAYS works itself out in the end— does worrying really hurry up the process? Here’s to the "peacemaker" in you today.

Just LOVE.
Just LOVE... When it makes sense, and even when it doesn't; when it feels good, and also when it hurts; when they deserve it, and especially when they don't. True love is loving the seemingly "unlovable". Love breaks down barriers, heals the deepest wounds, repairs broken relationships, overcomes monumental failures, and forgives the most hurtful transgressions; Love is the whole deal, period... Just love, love, and then LOVE some more-- the rest are just details.

Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm: “absorbing or controlling possession of the mind by any interest or pursuit; an occupation, activity, or pursuit in which such interest is shown; God in us.” I LOVE to see enthusiasm. We see it in athletes, actors, musicians, dancers, and especially in children… Why then, does it seem to be so rare in every day individuals that we meet along the way? Do so many dislike their profession, or are they just having a hard time really loving LIFE. Here’s to that enthusiastic “God in you” today, that wants to break out and really LIVE. (Remember where you come from.)

Potential
Potential: “possible, as opposed to actual; capable of being or becoming; a latent excellence or ability that may or may not be developed.” Sometimes used as a negative, potential is what CAN be. I believe in potential; why would we embrace potential in children, but have a hard time believing that WE can become? I believe that there is an awesome, authentic, totally unique individual striving to come out of EVERY one of us—let’s let 'em bust out of there, shall we?

Just Ask
It has been said: “Ask, and it WILL be given to you; seek, and you WILL find; knock, and the door WILL be open to you.” Could it really be that easy? Why not try it today… Children understand the principle, and they keep it very simple—they ask, seek and knock incessantly! Many will explain it away, and not give it a try, as they walk right by the miracle… Here’s to the “asking, seeking, knocking FOOL” in you today—just go get it.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Attitude
Attitude: “the way that I see life; my relationship with the PRESENT moment.” For many, the present moment will be an obstacle today; something to get past, so that they can get to the next thing. Or the present moment will be an enemy; keeping them from where they really want to be. Or it will be simply a means to an end; something to be used, but not LIVED... If I can be at peace with the present moment, however it comes, then I can be at peace with life; and that changes EVERYTHING. Today, the present moment will be my friend—I will choose to live life IN the moment.

Stand Up
"Give me a place to stand, and I will move the world." (Archimedes) Where will YOU stand today? So many people talk about what they stand against, while so few really stand UP for anything (it's a lot easier to tear down than to build up). This world needs people to stand up, and stand together for the RIGHT things... When you take your stand, you really do "move the world". Make a difference in someone's life today-- you know you were born to.

Good News
I have a feeling. You know what I mean, sometimes you just KNOW… Something really good is going to show up for you today: the phone’s going to ring; that email is finally going to show up; that check that’s been “in the mail” will arrive; a knock at your door, or just a chance meeting; the elevator door opens, and out walks someone that you REALLY need to see. TODAY is the day, I just know it… I just hope you’re awake when it happens, because it WILL happen (miracles happen ALL the time; sometimes we’re just sleepwalking through the magic). Here’s to your gift showing up at just the right time today—trust me; it’s already on its way.

Gifts
There has NEVER been another you… You are the culmination of generations of DNA being passed along, in a unique combination that can never be duplicated. We each have special and specific gifts that are blended in such a way that ONLY you can give that gift, the way that you give it (IF you choose to give it)… When we give it, two things happen: something in us “wakes up” that was meant to be ALIVE, and someone else comes alive when they receive our special gift… Give yourself away today—the world needs what only you possess.

Forgiveness
ONE thing has the power to change EVERYTHING… If you can find it, receive it, give it, accept it, and understand it. It’s not complicated, but for some reason it is so difficult for many, many people. Those that possess it have power, and experience a healing that so many others seek. Those that give it away are blessed beyond measure. Although it is elusive, it’s not so hard to find; it just takes a little humility, desire and the willingness to LET GO… What is this life changing force? Forgiveness. Find it today—it’ll set you free.

Dreams
You were created to Dream... Big ones, little ones, crazy ones, ones that make no sense; the ones we can't explain, not sure where they come from, even silly ones that we've never told anyone about... We NEED to dream, because something inside us dies when we stop. Kids are dreamers, because they are still relatively close to the One they come from: the Ultimate Dreamer. Chase it, follow it, imagine it, pursue it-- just don't ever, ever give up on it... You were meant to dream, it’s in your nature. Dreams DO come true-- now please, go get after it again.

Perception
Perception: “the act of apprehending by means of the senses or the mind; a single unified awareness derived from sensory processes.” It is said that perception IS reality... The way that we see life makes ALL the difference. Two people can see the exact same thing, at the exact same time, from the exact same spot, and have two totally different stories (because we don't see with our eyes, but with our brains). Today, consider the lens through which you are looking: change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.

You are LOVED… Love, the most powerful force in the universe; covering over a multitude of sins, mistakes, failures and shortcomings; life changing, redemptive, unconditional , transforming love… Whether you’re aware of it, grateful for it, deserving of it or even care about it— it’s always there. Bask in it, roll around in it, share it, give it, absorb it, or just let it be; you can run from it, but you just can’t escape it. This love is what it’s ALL about, and you’re smack dab in the middle of it. Get used to it, because you most definitely ARE loved… Now, let’s try not to forget it.

I am...
"I am..." One of the shortest, but most powerful of all sentences. Why? Because it defines me in the PRESENT moment-- the only place of true power... How are many people going to finish that sentence today? "I am sick... I am tired... I am broke." That's why you'll run into so many people today who are sick and tired. Why not finish that sentence in a way that honors and empowers you today? You can finish it HOWEVER you want to... Me? Today, I AM invincible.

Mission
Mission: "an assigned or self-imposed duty or task, calling, vocation; a sending or being sent for some duty or purpose; the business with which a group is charged." Can you imagine a successful company or organization not having a clearly defined Mission Statement? Many unsuccessful groups have one, but rarely look at it. "If you don't know where you're going, then any road will get you there..." I believe there is incredible power in Purpose. Individuals need Mission Statements as much, or more than companies do. Today, try to remember why you're here-- you'll come ALIVE.

Intuition
Call it a hunch, a gut feeling, or just intuition... You know what I mean: someone pops into your head out of nowhere, or a feeling that you just can't shake, or an idea that just won't go away. There are very real forces at work that we might not ever fully understand, that are REAL none the less... Go ahead and make that call, send that email, drop by and see the person that has been on your heart-- you never know, it could be the ONE thing that you've been waiting for, or the person on the other end might just be looking for you... Trust your instincts-- they're there for a reason.

Paradigm: "A set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them." As a community, I would say we're in need of a serious SHIFT. Last week a professional football player donated $2 million to a children's hospital-- but went largely unnoticed. The focus instead? A fender-bender in Fla... Don't believe the hype; beauty and goodness abound-- go look for it.

Giving
Today many people got up before the sun to go to the malls and fight the traffic, the crowds, and the lines-- all just to get the best deals on this season's hottest gifts. The "season of giving" has officially begun... The cool thing about it is that for several hours today, people will focus their energy and attention on what would make someone ELSE happy-- and that is very powerful. The lucky ones will figure out that we can do that EVERY day, if we just choose to... Happy "Black Friday!"

It's a Wonderful Life; Miracle on 34th Street; A Christmas Carol... Holiday Classics. Why are these movies so popular around this time of year? They remind us that miracles really DO happen, and there is SO much in life to be grateful for. How different would the world be if we tried to remind ourselves of these things EVERY day? Let's give it a shot... I wish you all a very, very Happy Thanksgiving.

Trust: "reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence; confident expectation of something; hope." Those that have it, and do not lose it, have a different life experience. It is more than just believing, but KNOWING that everything is going to be alright. Judging
Judging: "to infer, think, or hold as an opinion; conclude about or assess; to make a careful guess about, estimate." We make judgments ALL day long-- can't get through the day without them. The problem: if it makes me happy, it must be good; if it makes me unhappy, it's bad. How many times have we been wrong on that one! Struggle and hardship bring about the greatest change... Accept, surrender and GROW.

Luck
Luck: "the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person's life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities by chance." Does luck really differ from one person to another? I know that pain and loss can happen to the best of us... But what if the way we SEE life, what we EXPECT, and how we RESPOND, determines luck? Try looking for "luck" and good fortune to show up in your life-- expect it today.

Life IS Good
Life is good...The future is bright: opportunity abounds, endless possibilities, power and potential at my disposal; loving friends and family, health, abundance and prosperity at hand; so much to learn, experience, change and grow through; another day, full of adventure and mystery. I will live today fully, and appreciate all of the blessings flowing into my world... Life IS good. (OK, I'm ready to have great day.)

Parachutes
On my first and only sky diving attempt, my primary parachute malfunctioned and had to be cut away. The emergency chute, packed carefully by my instructor Ted, literally saved my life... We have people in our lives that have rescued us, or have been very instrumental in our success-- they "packed our chute". Why not take the time to thank them today-- where would you be without them? (Thank God for Ted.)

Change
Everything can change in an instant... Most people understand this, but typically it is implied as a negative. The same is true for miracles: a chance meeting, a phone call, an email, an idea, an encounter, a conversation, a split second "shift"... I absolutely believe that miracles are happening around us ALL the time, we just need to open our eyes... Everything can change in the blink of an eye-- why not today?

Attention
Today many people will unknowingly focus their very valuable attention on what they DO NOT want in their lives. Watching, listening to, talking about, and thinking about bad news has many obsessed with it, and they have unwittingly begun to look for more of it... Try to give your VERY valuable attention to what you DO desire in your life. Whatever gets your precious attention today WILL expand, so aim carefully.

Just for Today
Just for today... I will remember that this day is a gift, and tomorrow is not promised; that everyone I meet has a "story" and I can't presume to know what it is to walk in their shoes; that I have something unique to offer the world, and I should not hide my gift; that I will meet someone special today that is a part of some grand design... Just for today, I will walk in gratitude. (I hope you have a special day too)

My Dog
We love our dog Bogie... Good Ole Bogie-- he ALWAYS has a good day; he's ALWAYS happy to see me, even if I've only been gone ten minutes, he's like "You're Back!" He's grateful for everything, quick to forgive, always wants to play, affectionate to a fault, sensitive to our feelings, friendly to strangers, but also protective. We could learn a lot from him... Here's to the "Dog" inside of you today-- your inner Bogie.

Gratitude
There is amazing power in Gratitude... When I am grateful, all my attention and energy is focused on what I HAVE, not on what I lack. From my brain chemistry, all the way down to my DNA, my awareness shifts to abundance, and away from scarcity. "Whoever HAS will be given more..." Focus your valuable attention today on all that you HAVE, and watch mysterious, attractive forces go to work in your life.

The NOW
Today I will do my best to stay in the PRESENT. The Now: the only true place of power. Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery-- why spend precious energy where I cannot go? Today, the only day I truly ever have, is filled with promise, potential, and opportunity. I will not waste it, for I cannot ever get it back. Therefore I will release yesterday, let go of tomorrow, and fully embrace TODAY. Will you join me?

My wish for you: I wish you the absolute BEST today; a home run, knock it out of the park, energy filled, super focused, slam dunk, beyond your wildest expectations, unbelievable, better than good, extraordinary, wonderfully blessed day... More love, more power; more power, more impact-- go find your miracle. Salute!

Friends
"There is a friend, who sticks closer than a brother." We ALL need best friends. You know, the one who knows ALL your business, but loves you anyway. The one that you HAVE to talk to when something happens, good or bad. The one who's an advisor when you're not sure which way to go. The one who has stuck by you through thick and thin. I hope you have one... THANK that person today. Oh yeah, and there's not a limit.

Healing
"Accept, embrace, forgive, and release." I find it works well with injured relationships, past failures, disappointments, regrets, and mistakes... It's the unresolved things inside that tend to hurt us the most-- and some of those things go back a long way. Bitter roots that survive and grow will hurt their host the most deeply... Just accept, embrace, forgive and release-- healing awaits.

Memory: "the mental capacity or faculty of retaining and reviving facts, events, impressions, or of recalling or recognizing previous experiences." Memory is VERY powerful, as is the imagination, and how we choose to use it is crucial... A vivid memory has the power to change our body chemistry; releasing mood enhancing chemicals. Use the power of memory today to SERVE you-- recall victory, success, and power.

Here's to the unique beauty and treasure inside you AND everyone you meet today.

Transformation
Today I get to go and spend 6 hours with over 100 inmates at a Maximum Security Prison-- many of whom have become my friends. You know what I'll find there? Transformation... I'm witnessing men change there, who many would say could never change. Now, more than ever, I believe in the life changing, transformative, regenerative, restorative, all powerful love of God... Don't you want some? (I sure do.)

Esteem
"He's his own toughest critic." Why is that saying so popular? Most of us have enough critics, why do we need the toughest one in our own head! Why not try talking to yourself with love, honor and respect today. Shower yourself with compliments. Speak to yourself like you speak to someone who you hold in high esteem... You deserve a break-- give yourself one. (Besides, you really ARE "The Man." --or Woman!)

Would you drive around all day with your LEAST favorite radio station on-- say, MegaDeath? Then why go through the day with an unhealthy "frequency" in your head? So many people are tuned into FEAR FM-- playin' the fear hits all day long... Why not set your frequency today, before the world sets it for you. I choose "Peace, Love and Power FM" --Give it a shot; you can always change the channel back, if drama works better for you.

Feel Good
Sometimes we notice a shift in the body's chemistry. The hair on the back of the neck stands up; goosebumps raise up on the arms; a warm feeling fills our body... Serotonin: our body's natural "feel good" drug. Natural production of this little wonder drug eases depression and makes us feel alright...... Want to trigger it? Do something nice for someone today-- a random act of kindness. Then sit back and feel the calm.

Love... Find it, fall for it, feel it, give it, express it, receive it, think about it, roll around in it, create it-- just don't MISS it... Love changes everything: our brain structure, our biology, our chemistry and definitely our energy; it heals the body, mind and soul, and it can heal our land too... "All ya need is LOVE, dah-dah-da-da-da..." C'mon, everybody!

Victory
Victory: "Success in a struggle against difficulties or obstacles; the state of having triumphed." Sometimes we just need a small victory to turn things around and get some momentum going again. Find that quiet victor in you today-- it will grow with each small triumph.

Somebody in your life REALLY needs some encouragement today. Just think of a person that you believe needs it, and do something for them that they really don't expect. A card, a call, a compliment, a flower-- or just a special prayer. Let them know that they are loved today-- they might need it more than you know. There are some exceptional people out there that have forgotten how special they really are.

I had the privilege to speak at Oakwood Open Campus High School this morning. Oakwood is the "First Choice for a Second Chance" for kids coming back... They were engaged, attentive and inspired-- thank you for a great experience Betsy!

Patience: "the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, or irritation; an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay; quiet, steady perseverance." Exactly what I need is already on it's way-- in due time. If what I really desire hasn't arrived yet-- there MUST be a very good reason... Hang on, it's coming.

Great News
I have a feeling, I have a really good feeling... Something great is going to happen today. I mean, why not? You've been working just as hard as anybody, paying your dues, showing up on time, keepin your head up, doing what needs to be done... Good news is heading YOUR way-- it's just time. Do me a favor: keep your eyes and ears open, and your head on a swivel-- and when it "shows up" tell somebody about it.

I love it when someone has the guts to call their shot. Babe Ruth pointing to the stands before his home run in the 1932 World Series. Underdog Joe Namath guaranteeing victory before Super Bowl III in 1969. Confidence, not arrogance; assurance, not cockiness... Why don't we start calling some shots in this environment of fear and negativity-- let someone know that you're gonna knock one out of the park today.

Attention: "a concentration of the mind on a single object or thought; a state of consciousness characterized by such concentration; a capacity to maintain selective or sustained concentration." A brand NEW day, with unlimited possibilities... Just imagine: new ideas, new partnerships, new calls, new clients, new discoveries, new goals and strategies, new inventions and creations, new collaboration and teamwork, new potential for success and victory. "Show me your friends, and I'll show you your future." Not just good advice for young people... We tend to be the collective average of the five people we most closely associate with. You know, birds of a feather... So many of the guys that I am working with trying to rebuild their broken lives say: "I started running with the wrong crowd." You want to be positive, faithful, successful, victorious? Run with winners.

Transformation
Hays State Prison. 42 inmates--white, black, hispanic. Three amazing days: in before the sun came up, and out well after dark. They were served, loved, respected; we laughed, cried, hugged, confessed, sang, studied, prayed, bonded. There was power, healing, and brokenness there--and I have deep friendships within those walls. I can't get them off my mind or out of my heart--and I don't want to.

Blessed are the children... Children have a lot of things on straight that we might need to figure out all over again: they focus on things that make them come alive; when they fight, they make up quickly so they can get back to the good stuff; they are quick to forgive, they make friends easily, and trust to a fault; they spend time in their imagination... Here's to finding the kid in you today.

Intention: "An act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result; the object toward which the thoughts are directed; an aim that guides action." Intention is when the mind, with great earnestness, and of choice, fixes its view on any idea. Set your mind on what you intend to FIND today-- don't worry about the "how"... Here are just a few of the benefits: it boosts immunity; lowers stress hormones; decreases pain; relaxes your muscles; prevents heart disease; triggers the release of endorphins; enhances resilience; and eases anxiety and fear... Confidence
Confidence: "belief in the trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing." You can sense it when someone has it (like animals can sense fear). Problem is, you can also sense it when someone is faking it-- then it just comes across as arrogance... But when someone has a deep trust in one above and beyond themselves, there is a strong, attractive power at work. Here's to your true confidence today.

Responsibility
Responsible: "answerable or accountable, as for something within one's power, control, or management; being a source or cause." We live in a world where fewer and fewer people take responsibility for their actions-- so much easier to excuse, rationalize, blameshift. Someone needs to stand up and claim it, own it, take the hit. Here's to those brave souls who are willing to admit their mistakes and make amends.

Bill Gates is not only the richest man in the world, but he has created over 10,000 millionaires-- revealing a powerful principle: whatever you create for others, you RECEIVE... Create stress, it comes back; create joy, back atcha; create success, that's right, it'll find you. With the measure you use, it WILL be measured to you. Youth
"Oh, to be young again." What if you really could be? Fact: 98% of our body is not the same body we had a year ago-- all those cells have died and been replaced by brand new cells, all with new living DNA that are the "intelligence" of the body. So in a very real sense, you are just as old as you THINK you are. Think young today-- it'll change the way you FEEL, which can change the way you LIVE.

Set aside all worry, doubt, fear and mistrust-- just for TODAY. What have you got to lose? If need be, you can always pick that stuff back up tomorrow-- if that works better for you... Tenacity
Tenacity: "holding fast; characterized by keeping a firm hold; persistent or obstinate." Things tend to get toughest right before the greatest victory comes, almost like a paper wall; it looks daunting, but all you need to do is run on through (like a football team coming on the field-- can you imagine them stopping right before the paper banner?) Don't quit 5 minutes before the miracle happens, just hang on and "run on through."

As the water rose yesterday in Atlanta, it occurred to me that the illusion of "control" we think we have is just that: an illusion (the same way I felt 2 years ago when the drought hit). At the end of the day, I just trust that HE knows what He's doing... I know 2 things: there is a God, and I'm not him. (Trust brings Peace.)

Dream BIG, and let's go get 'em!

What I THINK about has a lot to do with how I FEEL. How I FEEL tends to determine what I DO. What I choose to DO has a lot to do with what I FIND in life. Who I BELIEVE myself to be affects it all: How I think, feel and behave-- it's all about who I AM... How you finish this sentence today could make all the difference: "I am _______ ." This is a tough time for many good people... Some are fighting to stay afloat financially. Others are battling health issues. Some are going through scary times with their children. The trick, as I see it, is to desire the things that I was CREATED to have-- that's the really important stuff. Here's to dreaming the dreams that really satisfy-- for reality begins in your DREAMS. He is trying to change as hard as any man I've ever seen. He's taken responsibility for the life he's lived, and he wants to help people avoid the life he chose. On some level, aren't we all in need of redemption? I'm off to see him now...

I'm off to Denver this morning... Hope everyone has a week filled with hope, love, faith, patience, kindness, power, energy, self control, creativity, perseverance, courage, strength, and humility-- is that too much to ask? Hey, if you don't ask, you don't get. Salute!
Perspective
I've gotten to know a man who is currently serving four consecutive life sentences, but is trying to change... He recently said they wanted to transfer him. He said they needed to biopsy his liver which might be diseased. I asked when he was leaving. He looked surprised and said: "Now why would I let a doctor do anything that's going to extend my time on the chain-gang?" It gave me perspective about my "problems."

Faith
When life comes at me hard and heavy, it sure is good to KNOW that there is someone watching over EVERYTHING. He makes no mistakes, no oversights, no miscues or miscalculations--everything is a tiny part of some grand, mysterious plan... It helps me to remember that there is no decision that He can't overturn, no mistake that He can't forgive. No failure is final, and He is always and forever in COMPLETE control.
Affirmations
Is there really power in daily affirmations? The non-conscious brain runs much of the show (90-95%). Your beliefs and habits, which live there, are thousands of times stronger than your desires. When you speak a powerful, positive affirmation about what you believe to be true about yourself, the brain hears what is said and creates a "mental loop", which reinforces the thought. The brain is ALWAYS learning: Teach it.

Champions
Rocky, Rudy, Hoosiers, the Titans...What do they all have in common? The "UnderDog" rises up to knock out the "Bully". Everybody loves a good comeback: against all odds, he reaches down deep, finds a part of himself he (or she) didn't know they had, and a champion shows up--it's classic David and Goliath...There are lots of fine people out there right now that need a comeback win. Here's to finding the "hero" in you.

Time
86,400... Pretty big number, sounds like alot. However, it flies by... 86,400 seconds in a day. How I choose to invest those precious "pieces of time" is very important, because I can NEVER get them back. Today I will make the most of them-- I will thank, behold, appreciate, hug, honor, cherish and love those in my life. Because today's the MOST important day of my life (it's the only one I truly ever have).
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Good News
I've been waiting on that ONE phone call, that particular email-- you know the one, the "good news" I've been waiting to hear. Hasn't quite shown up yet though... Therefore, I am declaring this "GOOD NEWS FRIDAY" (Because you find what you LOOK for, you know)... Gotta run-- the phone's ringin! (Start looking for it, and let me know when yours shows up-- I know its on its way)

Transformation
Transform: "to undergo a change in form, appearance, or character; to experience a permanent shift." I once was blind, asleep, numb, dull, wounded, anesthetized, apathetic--walking through life in a trance... Today I see, I feel, I care, I act-- I AM ALIVE. I'm so grateful that I'm not missing this wonderful adventure because I choose not to participate--so many merely spectate... Here's to "getting in the game" today.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Respect
Respect: "the condition of being esteemed or honored; a sense of the worth of a person; to hold in honor." Who is worthy of respect? Is it something earned or deserved? I believe ALL people should be given respect. As a matter of fact, the ones who rarely receive it, are the ones who need it the most. Find someone who hasn't seen it in a while, and show them some much needed respect-- it just might change their life.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Today
TODAY I will walk in integrity; I will love my neighbor as myself; I will stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves; I will side with the truth; I will speak the truth in love; I will believe that better days lie ahead; I will look for the beauty and goodness in everyone I meet; I will be a better man by far, than I ever believed myself to be... TODAY: what an incredible opportunity. Who's with me?
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.

Life
Life: "the force that makes or keeps something alive; animation, liveliness, spirit; resilience, elasticity." You hear it more and more: "Life is hard. I'm struggling. I can't take much more." Sometimes the "hard" is what makes it GREAT. The joy, pain, ups, downs, struggles, victories, stench, aromas, hardships, triumphs... Oh, the struggle is the good stuff-- without it we would most likely be bored, spoiled little children.
Peace
Now more than ever, people long for peace, joy, and love (whether they're aware of it or not). Like most things of value, they aren't necessarily found in the most likely places. I've discovered that peace resides in FORGIVENESS; joy hides in COMPASSION; and love is buried deep in the heart of SERVICE... Try as you might to find them elsewhere, peace, joy and love will always live in those who choose to GIVE.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Visualize
Visualize today where EVERYTHING goes your way: You show up at just the right time; you meet just the right person; you say just the right thing; you give them exactly what they need-- you're COMPLETELY in "the zone" (millions of neurons had to fire and connect in JUST the right way to create that vision in your mind). Now go and FIND it--unless of course that "nightmare scenario" works better for you as a strategy.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Spirit
Spirit: "the vital principle or animating force within living beings; the essence of conscious life, the incorporeal part of humans; the essential nature of a person or group." There's a force that runs through things--a "LIFE FORCE" which sustains and animates us. The flesh opposes it at times, but when its nourished, it is resilient and practically unstoppable. The indomitable human spirit: got some? (Tap into it)

Miracles
Who says miracles don't happen in today's world? Which is harder: to turn water into wine, or to change a person who has been the SAME for twenty years-- I would argue the latter... The crack addict who begins to feel; the gang-banger who begins to love; the inmate who begins to care. Oh yes, miracles happen every day-- you just gotta open your eyes, and know where to look... Here's to finding yours today.

Energy
This we know: All matter is made up of tiny packets of "energy". These packets vibrate at different speeds. They communicate through frequencies, much like radio or satellite signals... Slower energy vibrations, such as shame and fear, bring us "down." Faster energies like joy and love are "exhilarating." Why not "set your frequency" (mood) today, before the world sets it for you? You'll be amazed what you find.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Forgiveness
What if, after its all said and done, life is ALL about forgiveness? Receiving it first, and then offering it to EVERYONE (especially the unforgivable)... Lack of forgiveness makes the soul sick; true forgiveness not only heals, but is totally and completely liberating. You want to be free? Seek out the one who needs to be forgiven-- it'll change your life.

Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Stress
Stress: "physical, mental, or emotional tension; a specific response by the body to a stimulus, as fear or pain, that disturbs or interferes with the normal physiological equilibrium of an organism." Stress is all about "resistance" --when I feel it, all I need to do is locate the area of my life that is outside of acceptance... Some things are IN my control, and some things aren't-- why fight what I can't change?
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Grace
Grace: "the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God; the influence or spirit of God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them; divine love and protection bestowed freely on people." Looking back on my journey so far, I know I've done some pretty foolish, selfish and ungodly things--wasted alot of time... Now as I look at all the blessings in my life, I can honestly say: Grace is truly AMAZING... Wow.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Resistance
"Whatever I resist, I STRENGTHEN." Think about it: Want to build muscle? Resist. What escalates an argument? Resistance. Traffic jam? You get the picture-- Stress is all about resistance... Why not try the opposite response to things that bother you: "Accept it, embrace it, and release it." The argument is diffused, the traffic becomes a timely break, even a headache can dissolve... The "Is-ness" of life-- accept it.

Catch it, come alive, pass it on.
Epiphany
Epiphany: "a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence; a comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization." Sometimes we have "a moment of clarity"... Mine today: I am loved, I am blessed-- Life is so good.
