Confidence

Confidence: "belief in the trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing." You can sense it when someone has it (like animals can sense fear). Problem is, you can also sense it when someone is faking it-- then it just comes across as arrogance... But when someone has a deep trust in one above and beyond themselves, there is a strong, attractive power at work. Here's to your true confidence today.

Responsibility

Responsible: "answerable or accountable, as for something within one's power, control, or management; being a source or cause." We live in a world where fewer and fewer people take responsibility for their actions-- so much easier to excuse, rationalize, blameshift. Someone needs to stand up and claim it, own it, take the hit. Here's to those brave souls who are willing to admit their mistakes and make amends.

Giving

Bill Gates is not only the richest man in the world, but he has created over 10,000 millionaires-- revealing a powerful principle: whatever you create for others, you RECEIVE... Create stress, it comes back; create joy, back atcha; create success, that's right, it'll find you. With the measure you use, it WILL be measured to you. Youth

"Oh, to be young again." What if you really could be? Fact: 98% of our body is not the same body we had a year ago-- all those cells have died and been replaced by brand new cells, all with new living DNA that are the "intelligence" of the body. So in a very real sense, you are just as old as you THINK you are. Think young today-- it'll change the way you FEEL, which can change the way you LIVE.

Drama

Drama: "any situation having vivid, emotional, conflicting, or striking results." It seems that our world has become addicted to "drama". Arguments, road rage, gossip, emotional outbursts-- drama everywhere... People seem to love drama-- but then they complain about the stress... Here's to the peace-makers; the level-headed; the calm, cool and collected-- leave the rest for reality TV... Have a peaceful day.

Just for Today

Why not assume that today is going to be your best day in months? Great energy, connections, victories-- you know, right place, right person, right time, etc... Set aside all worry, doubt, fear and mistrust-- just for TODAY. What have you got to lose? If need be, you can always pick that stuff back up tomorrow-- if that works better for you... But just for today: Miracles. I'm off to go look for one, who's with me?

Tenacity

Tenacity: "holding fast; characterized by keeping a firm hold; persistent or obstinate." Things tend to get toughest right before the greatest victory comes, almost like a paper wall; it looks daunting, but all you need to do is run on through (like a football team coming on the field-- can you imagine them stopping right before the paper banner?) Don't quit 5 minutes before the miracle happens, just hang on and "run on through."

Trust

Trust: "reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, and surety of a person or thing." As the water rose yesterday in Atlanta, it occurred to me that the illusion of "control" we think we have is just that: an illusion (the same way I felt 2 years ago when the drought hit). At the end of the day, I just trust that HE knows what He's doing... I know 2 things: there is a God, and I'm not him. (Trust brings Peace.)

Intention

Purpose, vision, direction, intention... "If you don't know where you're going, then any road will get you there." Get a clear vision of where you ARE going. Write it down (only 3% of people in the world write down their goals). Then post a picture of the envisioned, accomplished intention, and look at it every day-- that'll put your plan on "steroids." Dream BIG, and let's go get 'em!

I Am

What I THINK about has a lot to do with how I FEEL. How I FEEL tends to determine what I DO. What I choose to DO has a lot to do with what I FIND in life. Who I BELIEVE myself to be affects it all: How I think, feel and behave-- it's all about who I AM... How you finish this sentence today could make all the difference: "I am _______ ." (Finish it in a way that serves you and honors you-- your brain is ALWAYS learning.)

One Thing

What if everyone did the one thing that had been put off or procrastinated today: a thank you to one who deserves it; an apology to one who has it coming; a "that a boy" to one who needs it; forgiveness to one who longs for it; encouragement to one who's about to quit; a hug to one who hasn't had one lately... What a difference it would make.

Struggle

This is a tough time for many good people... Some are fighting to stay afloat financially. Others are battling health issues. Some are going through scary times with their children. None of us really know what your pain feels like, and sometimes I know you feel alone in this battle. But take heart-- you are NOT alone, and there IS one who understands your struggle. Stay in the fight, and draw close to HIM... Salute.

Service

"Whoever wants to become great among you, must be your SERVANT." The greatest among us truly is the servant: others come first for them; other's needs set above their own; pouring themselves out for those who can't help themselves-- they truly get to understand what life is all about-- the more they give, the more they RECEIVE. Bigger

I hope that your faith is bigger than your fear; your dreams are bigger than your doubts; your prayers are bigger than your pain; your love is bigger than the lie-- that we're all not much the same; that your heart is big enough to see your neighbor's wound, as so many will look the other way... Grace

"Light shines brightest in the darkness." I'm off to spend the day with the men at Hays State Prison... I'll go there today to look for evidence of God in that dark place-- and I guarantee you that I'll find His fingerprints everywhere. (Enjoy your day in the "Free World" as those men call it... His grace kept me out of places like that.)

Dreams

What do you want? I mean, what do you really want? It occurred to me that, for the most part, I have almost always gotten what I REALLY desired in life... The trick, as I see it, is to desire the things that I was CREATED to have-- that's the really important stuff. Here's to dreaming the dreams that really satisfy-- for reality begins in your DREAMS. You'll most likely get what you truly chase-- will it be enough?

Beauty

"The music is all around us; all we need to do is LISTEN." Redemption

Redemption: "the purchase back of something that had been lost, by the payment of a ransom; rescue." I have become good friends with a young man who has done some very bad things. He is trying to change as hard as any man I've ever seen. He's taken responsibility for the life he's lived, and he wants to help people avoid the life he chose. On some level, aren't we all in need of redemption? I'm off to see him now...

Friends

I spent the last week on the road with three of my best friends. Where would I be without the brothers that I have in my life? I shudder to think... I have friends to watch my back, pick me up when I fall, carry me when I'm weak, fight for me when I'm in danger, tell me the truth, and just chill out and laugh with (and we did ALOT of that). I hope you have friends like that-- we ALL surely need them; and I love mine.

Rest

Rest: "refreshing ease or inactivity after exertion or labor; relief or freedom, especially from anything that wearies, troubles, or disturbs; a period or interval of inactivity, repose, solitude, or tranquility." Love

I love my kids. I love their individuality, their uniqueness, the things that make them different and so special. There is NOTHING that could cause me to stop loving them. Nothing that they could do or not do, nothing that could separate them from my love. Where does that kind of love come from? Certainly not from me, my heart is too flawed. Multiply that love by a TRILLION, and just maybe we get a glimpse of HIS love.

Differences

I love variety...Wouldn't life be unbearable if everyone was exactly the same? Different shapes, sizes, colors, languages, strengths, weaknesses, tastes, convictions, talents, personalities, quirks: that's the good stuff... I'm assembling this week with 1000 people from 52 different nations on this wonderous globe, and I will celebrate the variety and beauty that I see in all these magnificent, colorful human beings.

Belief

Belief: "mental acceptance of and conviction in the truth, actuality, or validity of something." A belief is nothing more than a thought that has been run through the mind so many times that it has been hardwired into our internal software, and accepted as fact. 500 years ago, EVERYONE believed that the world was flat (except one "crazy" man). CHALLENGE your beliefs--they will determine much of your reality in life.
