Projecting

Kit's "Attitude Science" Tip: Pay attention to what bothers you in other people today. Typically what ticks me off about you is what is still unresolved inside of ME. Maybe I'm not mad at you, but rather myself? If your behavior can steal my peace, than thats on ME, not you... It's all about what's INSIDE that matters: squeeze a lemon and what comes out? Lemon Juice... Squeeze a man, and whatever comes out is what's inside of him-- a man under pressure will show you what he's made of. If stress, anger, rage, or violence comes out whenever he is "squeezed" then it's time for some INSIDE work and healing... See life as a big screen today and YOU are the projector. Whatever you possess on the inside, you will project onto the world. I wish you all the PEACE that you can handle.

Amazing Peace

What an amazing day at Hays State Prison in North Georgia… Considered the #1 Gang Prison in the State of Georgia, and right in the middle of a state-wide “Gang War” in the prison system, we were able to take 41 at-risk, inner city high school boys up there for a day that they will NEVER forget. Although there was a killing at one of the other prisons just yesterday because of this war, Hays is running smoothly and peacefully because of the “Peace at Hays” leadership that has been raised up through The Power of Peace Project. Two of our inmate leaders delivered a powerful and inspirational testimony to the group, and then we took them on a tour down to “The Hole.” This Special Management Unit is where convicts are sent when they get into trouble, or need protective custody to stay alive. These young men spent about 20 minutes back there. While all the cells were locked, the inmates could still see them and yelled whatever they wanted, as the boys stood in line. Some shouted threats, others invitations, and some tried to talk some SENSE into them. Our “Inspired Straight” program includes a bit of “Scared Straight” to get their attention, and it WORKS… On the way out the Lieutenant, who runs much of the security at this camp, said that the current Peace at Hays was due to our program. Actually, it is due to God’s power and intervention, but I am thrilled to be a part of something that is changing this “Little World.” Please pray for these Warriors of Peace!

Peace Makers

I'm SO proud of the men in white on the "inside" where our Power of Peace Project is alive and active (in a maximum security facility in North, GA). There is a gang war that has most state prisons in GA currently on lock-down. The "Men of Peace" leaders at our prison have said NO to the war, and YES to Peace-- they are now off of lock-down, and there is peace on the compound presently... Please pray that peace remains-- what these convicts are doing is truly historic.

Deep Waters

Kit's Attitude Science Tip... Throughout the day today, your sub-conscious mind is going to run 95-97% of your processes-- and that's a good thing: can you imagine if you had to concentrate to breathe, digest, heart-beat, etc? The conscious brain can handle around 40 bits of information per second, while the sub-conscious can handle 40 MILLION bits per second! We all carry "mental messages" that we picked up along the way, that live deep in the sub-conscious mind. It matters very little if they are true, but rather if they made a powerful, emotional impact on us earlier in life, and were engraved DEEP into our memory. These messages are VERY important: "You'll never amount to anything. You're just like your father. You're stupid. Things never work out for you." -- just to name a few... The secret is to get involved in the conversation that you will have with YOURSELF throughout the day and reprogram those tapes-- you know, the endless, repetitive chatter in the brain? Pay attention and you'll begin to hear that "internal dialogue" and the mental messaging that you carry deep within you. Challenge the thoughts that make their way into your conscious mind today, and replace them with strong, powerful affirmations that ARE true: "Things ALWAYS work out for me. I always finish strong. I AM a child of God." Replace "Old Programs" that aren't true and do not work with the TRUTH-- it'll set you FREE.

Built-In Search Engine

The brain is designed to "look for" specific things that it has been trained to "see" as important to YOU, much like Google-- what you put into search is what it "finds" for you (in the sub-conscious). For years, we have trained the brain to find relevant, personalized information based on attention, repetition, and focus. That is why the EXACT model of the car you are shopping for begins to immediately "show up" all over town; we've all experienced that phenomenon... Be careful what gets and keeps your valuable attention today, because your brain will find more of it tomorrow: if you play four hours of Grand Theft Auto in the morning, listen to a few hours of Gangster Rap in the afternoon, capped off by a couple hours watching Jersey Shore in the evening, don't be surprised when "Drama" keeps showing up in your life! Watch what you put IN, because that "download" will continue to FIND you. (You wouldn't get mad at Google now, would you?)

Gratitude

Attitude: "The way that I see life; my relationship with the present moment; the LENS through which I see the world." Gratitude is a very powerful lens-- it has the power to change everything. No matter what the circumstances are that I find myself in, if I can find a reason to be grateful, then those circumstances have the potential to CHANGE... I pray that you can find your gratitude today, for it is so very precious: for your family, your health, shelter, food, the air you breathe, your freedom. I bet you can find something... It's that little "something" that is the great Game-Changer, and the seed for the hope that you REALLY need. Find it and hold on to it... Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours today.

Beauty

The world is SO beautiful... With so much going on in politics, the middle east, hurricane season, and the general global crisis, many have missed the beauty that is ALL around them EVERY day. Today just open your eyes and SEE it: In your children, in your spouse, in your neighborhood, in the changing of the leaves, in the sunset, in the stars, in the rain, and even in your neighbor's heart (if you care to look). Please don't miss the BEAUTY today-- they say "Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder." Today I will CHOOSE to behold MUCH beauty in everything and everyone that I see. Dreams

Think of an "Impossible Dream." Now consider what makes it impossible... Is it impossible for everyone? (Ex: Sailing across an ocean, when EVERYONE believed the world was flat; putting a man on the moon; breaking the four minute mile, etc...) Perhaps it is only impossible for YOU. The one who will do that VERY thing that you just dreamed about, is the one who puts aside excuses, doubts, fears, and the worries about what everyone "else" thinks, and just gets BUSY, with laser-beam focus on THEIR Dream. What if Michael Phelps would have listened to everyone that told him 8 Gold Medals was impossible? The only person that mattered was Michael, and what MICHAEL thought (and what price he was willing to pay)... Now what is YOUR Dream? Say it; Say it out loud; Say it often; until you make it so.

Second Chances

Great event in Dalton this morning (they laughed and cried and cheered)... This program is for first time convicted felons, who have ONE shot to complete this two year "Drug Court" program. If they do not graduate, then they go to prison. Period. It is a wonderful partnership-- because I DO NOT want to see any of these young people up the road at the prisons where we serve-- none of them are "built for it" yet... Maybe we can interrupt and redirect-- that is our powerful intention. I LOVE this program for Second Chances! (We all need a second chance sometimes)

The Power of Peace Project

I am writing you because you have generously and graciously supported "The Power of Peace Project" over these past couple of years, as God has led us into some amazing places and He continues to open doors for this very important ministry to "the least of these." I have seen Him take us into prisons in Georgia, Ohio, California, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, South Africa, and soon to be Mexico! He has taken us to inner city schools in Georgia, Tennessee, California, Arkansas, and soon in Jersey City (next week!). We are seeing incredible transformations, as gang-bangers, criminals, desperate souls, AND their rivals are turning to PEACE, and striving to find a better way. God has given us an amazing gift and we continue to share it with this dark and dangerous world as we go along, and continue to learn-- but I believe we are just getting started... 97% of these men WILL come home some day-- sooner or later, and they will come home to OUR communities. We intend to send them home as Peace-Makers. These kids that are hitting the streets in alarming numbers are ALREADY in our communities, and we intend to provide the mentoring that they so desperately need-- the mentoring they are not getting from their fathers, uncles and big brothers who are already in the prisons where we serve. Resistance

Whatever we resist, we STRENGTHEN. So why spend most of your energy today in "active resistance" (where most of your stress comes from, by the way). You'll see people all day long fighting things that they have absolutely no control over, and driving THEMSELVES crazy: the traffic, the weather, the economy, the election, and many other people, places, and things... Accept the things that have already happened-- yesterday is History. Surrender to the things that you cannot control-- tomorrow is a Mystery. Go to work effecting CHANGE in the only space that you are truly given: right here and right NOW, with yourself. (Worry about YOUR side of the street-- the rest has a way of taking care of itself.)

Perspective

It’s all about perspective… I know an inmate that is perhaps the most grateful man in the prison. He is partially blind in his right eye, and deaf in his right ear. He cannot talk very well and has a heavy, broken English accent. Years ago, he took a life and was so grief stricken that he turned the gun on himself. He fired point blank under his chin, and the bullet went up under his eye, through his inner ear, and out the back of his head. Amazingly he survived… He ALWAYS tells me how much he loves God, and how much he loves me. I asked him why he was so happy and grateful. He told me that he did three years inside a Vietnamese prison when he was a teenager, and that this “Georgia Time” was the easiest he had ever done, and that it had led him to God (and this prison is the toughest in the state). Gratitude typically depends on perspective. Can you find reason to be grateful today? It’ll change YOUR world too.

Imagination

Take a moment and imagine your life EXACTLY the way that you wish for it to be... Your health, your career, your mate, your money, your body, your home, your family, your spirituality, your attitude, your emotions, your mind... an on, and on. Now take a mental "snapshot" of the YOU that you truly long to be. Can you see it? Burn that image into your mind's eye... Now GO and make it so. (But you must deal with your FAVORITE weak excuse that just popped up, for that is your only true enemy). It's YOUR world, and HE has given you dominion over it-- act like it.

Don't Quit

When it gets a little tougher, do not quit... When the storm comes, don't you quit... When you feel a little under the weather, don't quit... When everybody thinks you're crazy, don't you DARE quit... When you think you can't go on, don't give up... When you've got nothing left in the tank, just dig a little deeper... No matter what: never, never, never, EVER quit. Your miracle is right around the next turn-- can you feel it? (I can-- so if you need a little extra faith, just borrow some of mine, you can always pay me back later-- all it takes is a mustard seed!) Now go FIND your miracle. And one more thing: DON'T QUIT.

Mexico!

I'm SO excited, I just booked my trip: I'll be preaching inside two Mexican prisons in Puebla Dec 5--10th, speaking on Mexican Television, and teaching at a Leadership Conference in Mexico City... Can't wait! (I still need "Peace Angels" to help invest in the trip, if you are interested) Peace!

All Things

I have become ALL things to ALL men... To the Jew, the Greek, the Muslim, the Buddhist, the Hindu, the Atheist, the Republican, the Democrat, the Gangster, the Alternative Life, the Homeless, the Addict, the Misfit, the Enemy, the Forgotten , the Less Than... Aren't you exhausted by trying to prove RIGHT all the time? I am no better, and no worse. I will become like my Brother, walk a mile with him, and listen, learn, and LOVE-- with NO agenda. Period. Love is my Religion, and today I am FREE... (Jesus teaches me this)

New Audio Book

Someone asked me for more miracle examples from the weekend... How about: A death row inmate with more gratitude and love than MOST of the people I meet in churches... a young man striving and crying to change a "lifestyle" that he has been living for MANY years behind bars, and making MUCH more effort than most of the Christian men I know... Black and Latino rival gang members hugging, laughing and dancing in our "I'll Fly Away" Conga line... and that's just examples from a couple of days, and off the top of my head. My God is an AWESOME God.

Wow.

Wow... Here are just a few highlights from behind the wall today: an inmate who recently got off of death row after 22 years, loses his voice from singing songs for the first time in over two decades... an inmate weeps openly in front of maximum security convicts over the fact that his son turned eleven today and he couldn't be there to celebrate with him... and an inmate who lives a very obvious alternative lifestyle is comforted by a group of inmates, as he cries over his recent suicidal feelings... God is definitely up to something. (and no, you CANNOT learn about these amazing transformations by watching "Hard Time" and "Gangland" on TV-- we only witness God's Moves up close and personal)

His Love

It's really hard to explain how powerful and deeply spiritual today was for me... Truly loving these men who have made the biggest mistakes men can make, and feeling absolutely no judgment, fear, or hesitancy, makes no sense other than God is having his way with me. I can't explain it, but it is the most intensely moving work that He has EVER done in my life... and for those who have been affected by violent crime, I am SO sorry that you and yours have been hurt. Please forgive me for loving them this way-- I cannot help myself. I feel God's pain, but more than that, His unshakeable LOVE.

Revival

We only do this twice a year, and I'm SO excited that the time has finally come once again-- because I NEED it... We will spend the next three days with 30 inmates that have been chosen from among the general population at Hays State Prison: 12 white, 12 black, 5 Latino, and 1 asian... We will spend 12 hours a day together laughing, crying, talking and becoming FRIENDS... and God will show up again: when, how and among who HE chooses. The best part is that He ALWAYS shows up and never the same way twice... This is my tenth weekend like this, and I still get butterflies in my stomach. (He'll show up for YOU today too)

Peace

I just submitted my first article to the Gandhi Development Trust Satyagraha Magazine for publication-- a non-violence newspaper that is read all over the world. Very excited to be a part of Ela Gandhi's organization that I connected with this past Summer in South Africa... The Dream LIVES!

Brainy

Ever wondered why things are so dark and angry for some folks? Because we don't see with our eyes, or hear with our ears, but rather with our BRAINS... Today everything will be filtered, processed and deciphered by this 3 and a half pounds of fatty grey matter, with electro-magnetic, chemical energy firing millions of times a second; and you've been practicing how you "see" things for many YEARS. Pathways are carved, connections have been made, and habits and patterns are firmly in place-- but the brain is neuroplastic and changes as fast as YOU do... So challenge the things you "see and hear" today (things aren't always as they seem). Look at things from a different perspective-- it could make ALL the difference.

Walk a Mile

About a year ago I was speaking at a corporate event, and a woman came up to me and asked if I could meet a friend of hers. I replied as I always do, “I go where I’m invited.” I’ve since gotten to know a wonderful mother who is caught in a heart-wrenching battle that nobody ever wants to fight… Today I will go and meet with her son for the first time. He has allegedly made a terrible mistake and is facing severe consequences. How can I really know what either of them feels, or the other family for that matter, unless I WALK with them? How can I know what to say? I will simply do what I have learned to do inside the prisons: “Listen, listen, love, love.” Please pray for BOTH of the families involved, and try to realize today, that you have NO idea about the other man’s journey unless you walk with him a while… Hatred is much harder to accomplish up close— it is usually reserved for those who live life at a DISTANCE.

Authenticity

There is the true self-- the Soul, and then there is the false self-- the Ego, and that is all... The Ego attaches your identity to WHATEVER you give it: possessions, accomplishments, looks, titles, success, reputation, and even failure. While the Soul is perfectly unique, gifted, and absolutely pure... Your "Authenticity" is found in your Soul. Live from the Soul today, with no pretense, nothing to prove, and in line with your true purpose (just recognize when you are controlled by ego, and it immediately evaporates)... When we find our authentic self, there is no worry of success or victory-- for then, and only then, your Creator has taken the reins.

Angel Sighting

I was feeling a little discouraged today, because of some "opposition" coming to me regarding my work. And then I met two Angels, disguised as homeless, who went by the names "Abraham & Sarah." Walking through Centennial Park this afternoon, they stopped me and told me they had a message for me: "Do not stop speaking about what He has told you to say. Those that oppose you cannot stand against you, and you will overcome-- but do not be discouraged." (And I had not told them ANYTHING about my day). I thanked them, we hugged and then they slipped away. No, I will not stop, and couldn't even if I wanted to... and yes, I DO hear you Lord.

My Friend

The young man, who happens to be Latino, who changed my life and led to my first book (Luis from "Diary of a Prodigal Son") has finally gone to trial, and will soon learn how long he will have to serve. Please pray that the Judge looks at his transformation over the past 5 years and all the good he has done to help at-risk youth through my work, and that he will take some time off the 30 years he is looking at. And please pray for his safety wherever they send him-- which will be out of state... I would not be doing the things I am doing, or even be the man I am today, without the true courage and change I first witnessed in Luis.

An Old Violin

Give me an old violin and I wouldn't know what to do with it... A door stopper, perhaps some firewood, or maybe a weapon if I was in danger? But put it in the hands of a Maestro, and magic happens-- it can literally bring you to tears... Th at's what happens when you find YOUR purpose. He created you to be used for His purposes-- but it only makes sense when HE plays. "I am your instrument Father, have your way with me today-- just PLAY." (and watch the magic happen)

Perspective

At some point in life, EVERYONE must take a hard look at themselves from the Creator's perspective-- that is what we must help this young, fearless generation do-- change perspective, and look DEEP inside.

Anti-Virus

The Anti-Virus... When you get a flu shot, they give you a little bit of the flu... When you get snake-bitten, they give you a bit of the venom... So, what's the answer to crime in our communities? Rehabilitated criminals that go back in to "fix up what they tore up" --"The Anti-Virus." And that's exactly what we intend to do. (some of these kids we're working with might not listen to anyone or anything else)

Excuses

So, what is your number one, most sophisticated, most beautiful EXCUSE? The market, the economy, the recession, the government, your spouse, your boss, your lack of _____ (you fill in the blank)... If you're looking for a good excuse to explain why you don't have or cannot become, then you won't have to look very far... But what if you bagged that excuse this week? You can always pick it back up if it's working for you. Why not focus on what you desire, what you HAVE and who you ARE-- and go find your miracle. Miracles hide from excuses, and are drawn to faith and hope-- and are typically just a good reason to QUIT... Just BELIEVE, and go DO. (This one is for me)

Prison Peace

Unbelievable day up at one of the prisons where we serve. Largest gathering we have had on a Friday morning in well over a year... But it wasn't the size of the group, but more importantly, WHO was there. The five top leaders came and brought their crews. If I was ever going to feel vulnerable, it would have been today. But I didn't... Surrounded by leaders with powerful influence and their enemies in the same room, I felt a powerful energy moving throughout the group. Everyone was respectful and very attentive, and there wasn't an officer in the room for the entire hour and a half. These rival gang leaders are now seriously discussing peace in Georgia's most dangerous prison... Now tell me that God is not healing the land.

Amazing

Tonight was an extraordinary night that I will NEVER forget... I thought we were gathering to launch our Power of Peace Ministries, Inc; but we happened to invite the WHOLE neighborhood. Around 7pm, the most beautiful, big group of "real people" began to file in. Soon the sanctuary was filled with Marietta's "least of these." The broken, beautiful people of the streets had stopped by. We sang to them, we inspired them, we learned from them, and then we fed them ALL that they could eat --a Birdie Boy Fish Fry... God had other plans for tonight, and His plan is ALWAYS better than my best one. (The Rock Stars: "Birdie Boy & Snoop" pictured below-- and many thanks to the MCC and AMCC volunteers!)

Favor

What a day on Friday at San Quentin State Prison... Walking through that infamous prison yard, and it was FULL, we were meeting guys from all different "backgrounds" as guys played football, basketball, worked out, etc... It was like a movie. Then we got to go inside and speak to a group of the inmates-- a day I'll never forget. (There is a "sameness" to the convicts all over the country, and even around the world, that we are meeting-- and that's not a bad thing-- just real men looking for answers.) And yes, I DID sense the spirit of Johnny Cash in there...

Remarkable

Wow... What an amazing day at the prison where we began what has become a national prison peace movement... The Power of Peace Project, Inc. (our 501c3) is currently working with the leadership of the three most powerful inmate "organizations" at this dangerous camp, and we are beginning to discuss real, attainable peace... As we waited to get into our space for our weekly "Peace at Hays" meeting this morning, the prison was put on lock down as a gang member who had been stabbed multiple times was carted out AFTER we had arrived. Afterward, our meeting took a powerful and serious tone as one of the most influential convicts at this prison spoke about raising the "kids" (young men) that are showing up in these prisons, and then I spoke of Purpose and Power. Peace is within our sight... Come and see us-- maybe YOU can find some Peace too.

Trouble?

Are YOU or someone you know in Trouble? Come and see us... Your kids in trouble? Come and see us. Finances in trouble-- come and see us. Marriage in trouble-- come and see us. Legal trouble? Come and see us. Health troubles-- come and see us... Why? Because we are "The Ministry of Trouble." (We find PEACE in Troubled Places) Only one condition though: when you get OUT of trouble, you gotta go help someone else who is still IN trouble-- Deal? Where and when-- Details coming soon.

Ohio Project

Unbelievable results at two large prisons in Ohio. 100 inmates just concluded our "40 Days of Peace" Project and we had a great celebration and honored those men for a heroic effort... Then we began our "40 Days of Peace" Pledge with 200 more inmates at another more dangerous prison. These men are SO fired up about becoming Peace Makers, becoming Role Models, and doing something significant with their lives... We are finding TREASURES, buried out in a lost field.

Shoot the Ball

You'll miss 100% of the shots that you never take... Take your best shot today: buy the ticket, make the call, ask her out, make that reservation, start the diet, make the downpayment, open the book, try out for the team, write the song, start the company-- but whatever you do, make a MOVE... But please, if you are not willing to shoot the ball, then stop complaining about the game, the referees, the other players, the rules, the opposing team, or whatever else you're using as your most recent sophisticated excuse (those are nothing but "beautiful lies" anyway). Shooters are too busy runnin to waste time on lame excuses and reasons for failure... Just get into the GAME.

Gandhi

Non-Violence is more powerful, more effective, more courageous and more sustainable than the alternative... Violence comes in many forms: cultural, structural and direct violence, just to name a few. You might even witness it today-- in traffic, in your own home, or maybe just the poverty you see in your city... Learn from this wonderful little man, whose spirit was so big and strong. Choose to RESPOND, rather than react today and choose non-violence and peace rather than retaliation. You'll be amazed what you'll find...

Perseverance

I'm SO glad that I didn't stop believing when things got tough. I'm so grateful that I didn't lose hope when things remained dark. I'm so fortunate that I didn't give up when all was seemingly lost... When your back is against the wall is when He does some of His BEST work. (Don't quit five minutes before YOUR miracle shows up.) These are the kids of Cato Manor in Capetown-- they continue to believe things will get better; maybe we can learn something from them today.

What a life changing tour of South Africa: Very successful speaking engagements in Johannesburg, Durban and Capetown; Incredible trips to the Apartheid Museum, Gandhi Ashram, and Robben Island; Preached inside a Notorious South African prison; Served in an orphanage that lies right in the cross-fire between two warring street gangs; and had the honor of speaking about the "Power of Peace Project" at the Global Non-Violence Summit hosted by Ella Gandhi and civil rights legend Dr. Bernard Lafayette... South Africa

I'm in the process of preparing for my trip to South Africa at the end of this month. I will tour Robben Island and go inside Mr. Mandela's prison cell where he was incarcerated for 27 years; I will tour Soweto and meet historic freedom fighters there; we will be certified and trained in non-violence by Mr. Gandhi's granddaughter in Durban; and very prayerfully I will be able to meet Mr. Mandela personally and thank him for the way he is still impacting inmates and troubled teens in our program here in America... Forgiveness

It occurred to me this morning that I have a great many friends now in the Department of Corrections across a growing number of states-- an interesting group to call my family, and in a strange way they have actually become my church... These good friends of mine may very well be some dangerous men who have made some terrible mistakes and costly choices; but some of them are the strongest and most courageous men I've ever known, who are trying to make heroic and historic changes-- and do their very BEST to clean up the mess they've made... Can YOU forgive them? Loving these hated men has set me free.

In His Hands

This morning as I studied, one of my dogs wouldn't stop barking. Finally, I had to go out and make her stop. I walked down the steps to my patio and went over to reprimand her. As I walked back, I almost stepped on this beautiful, large Copperhead-- pictured below-- by the way, he lost his head... I have no idea how I didn't step on it when I came by the first time (I literally had to step right where it was to get where I was going). It didn't move a muscle-- who knows, maybe it was told to "freeze" on my behalf... Keep in mind that HE has you in His hands today, and evil cannot strike in His presence, without His permission. I need to go easier on my dog-- that's what she was barking at.

It's a Wonderful Life

I had a wonderful experience this week... Walking out of an event that I had just finished speaking at, an older man followed me out. He could've been my grandfather: 6 foot 4, thin and healthy, he was probably about 72... With tears in his eyes he explained how God had told him to come, but until that moment he didn't know why. Then he said he believed we were supposed to do a great work together. At that very moment, a little chipmunk ran up to us and stood right in front of me staring for several moments, as if to say "are you listening?"... I stood there speechless as if God were standing right there with us. I will be honored to work with this sweet, gentle, much wiser, elder man... (God is up to something)

Stepping Stones

What is your biggest obstacle, your BEST excuse? Why not focus on the solution to all your problems, rather than focus on the problem itself? It might not be an obstacle at all, but rather a mere stepping stone. (HE is much bigger than anything in my way-- I think I'll just roll with Him)

Going Home!

Today I saw a guy walk thru the room with an officer, while wearing white with blue stripes (while I was speaking to a group of inmates in the prison). Then he came walking back thru wearing a white shirt, khaki pants and tennis shoes (because the day to go home for him had obviously arrived)... When the other men saw him come out of the room dressed differently they broke into applause, at just the moment we were talking about them imagining and creating their own "go home" date... It was a beautiful moment. One of the inmates exclaimed: "Look he's even walking differently!" Priceless.

Perspective

Wouldn't it be a shame to go through life seeing things from only one persepective? Change positions and look at things from a new angle today-- you already know how YOU see things; try seeing the world the way someone else sees it. Vantage point makes a huge difference... "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at CHANGE."

Doers

Do something today that you KNOW is right, that frightens you a little bit. Push yourself into action and OUT OF planning, thinking, talking, planning some more, talking a bit more, having a meeting to have another meeting, and then thinking about maybe doing something next week... There are talkers and there are DOERS. Do something today that takes guts and is all about helping someone who really needs it-- it will set you freeeeeeeeeeeee.

True Rest

Want to know why the whole world seems tired? And we know that people are more on edge, irritable and unproductive when they are tired... It's because it is not the body that needs the rest; it's the SOUL. People are dead tired because their Soul is weary... I say it's time to wake up. (then you won't even need a vacation-- but you'll enjoy the ones you do take even more-- because you will have TRUE rest) Join The True Rest...

Boo Birds

Don't let anyone tell you what you "can't" do... Either they tried and couldn't do it, or more likely, they didn't have the guts to try in the first place. Either way it's easier for them to hate on your dream than to sacrifice for their own... You just go do what you need to do-- you were born for this, and you were built for it-- don't listen to the boo-birds, go and find your miracle-- it's waiting for YOU.

Darkness and Light

Here's the deal... If evil can repent, and I've seen it happen, then nothing is impossible. If pure evil can change directions and be restored to goodness and love, then there's no more need for judgment and "us against them" or "just throw them all away” because “ they’re a lost cause..." We will take Love & Light into the dark and dangerous places and watch miracles happen: evil will repent just like everything else that comes into contact with pure love and holiness-- mercy triumphs over judgment and God will get His lost children back... Now that’s enough to get me up in the morning and keep me up late at night. We'll take the battle into the enemy's own kitchen-- and overcome him with LOVE.

Wow

What an amazing couple of days at a prison in Ohio... When the warden was asked what he tought of our program he stated, and I quote, "You would have to be smoking crack not to want this program in your prison, and I don't smoke crack." We shot seven hours of incredible, raw footage for our first documentary: The Power of Peace... God is so good.

Carefree

Have you ever seen a dog rolling around on his back in the grass on a beautiful sunny day? HE "gets it." He knows that he's not got a care in the world, as if he's IN on something that everyone else has missed-- and he's happy about it. He's not bothered by ego, and he knows that all is right in his world. You see he knows that he is completely covered and connected, and all his needs are met by the one who created him. Not that there isn't important work to do, but that it's HIS work and HE will do it-- I just get to watch and roll... That's how I feel today-- like that carefree and content canine (and I intend to enjoy it).

Big Break!

Off to Ohio today to spend three days launching the "The Power of Peace" Initiative in our first prison outside of Georgia... It is also the first prison that is going to allow us to film inmates in our program from the INSIDE. Stay tuned-- should be fun.

The Dream

Great trip to LA this past week... The Lifestyles Magazine shoot went great, and we even had the host wearing a "Hope is the New Dope" Power of Peace T-Shirt for the last segment! We met for the 3rd time with the film maker and screen writer to discuss a potential movie project about our story-- the Dream LIVES!

Focused Attention

Today can be anything that you WANT it to be-- it all depends on your focused attention... Why focus on your fears, worries and doubts today? If that's what gets most of your attention today, then it must be your true desire, at least from your mind's point of view... Instead, why not focus your thoughts and focused attention on your dreams, desires and powerful intentions today. You WILL find what you "look" for-- just look for the wonderful things... Or not, your choice-- but remember that you DO have a choice.

Peace

I stand completely amazed at what I am witnessing at this maximum security prison... Wednesday there was a stabbing in one of our best dorms-- which could have been a real problem for our Peace Movement. Instead, today over half of the inmates in that dorm came to our Peace Meeting and addressed the warden publicly, regarding the incident. They apologized that it happened on their watch, committed to him that it wouldn't happen again and explained all the things that these men were doing to create peace in that dorm. These men have decided that they WILL NOT tolerate violence where they live-- a far cry from where they were just a year ago... I pray that PEACE continues to spread.

Night of HOPE

What an amazing night in Houston... A great crowd was present with wonderful enthusiasm and tremendous energy. I spoke on behalf of my "Power of Peace Project" and Kairos Prison Ministries International. Hundreds of HOPE Worldwide volunteers were in attendence and by the time I finished my message, literally dozens and dozens had enrolled to serve with Kairos inside the prisons and youth detention facilities in Texas. So many volunteered that Kairos ran out of materials... This night exceeded my expectations, and my expectations were extremely high! Thanks to Matthew Bridges and all the leaders in Houston for a huge success.

Rise Up

He's NEVER through with you, and He'll use WHATEVER you give Him... It's not the falling, but the "rising again" that He specializes in. Let Him do His good work-- for there is always purpose in the pain. (As long as you never give up... ever)

Miracles

Imagine what is possible today for those who truly believe in miracles: the person you truly need to meet will just show up; that check that will rescue you will magically arrive; the offer that is meant for you will suddenly appear; that diagnosis that seemed so dark, will be overturned; that wayward child that you have prayed over persistently will immediately turn around; that partner who you have sought after for so long will turn up at just the right time, in just the right place... Miracles: the unexpected and unexplainable. I for one, believe that they happen all the time, and I am LOOKING for one today.

Inspired Straight

Great day up at the prison... This past Wednesday we took 35 high-risk teen boys up to a maximum security prison and had two of the inmates in our Power of Peace Project speak to them in our new "Inspired Straight" program. Today we were able to go back up and encourage these brothers for the outstanding job they did-- these inner city kids aren't afraid of anything, but they CAN be inspired to redirect their path, and they most definitely were. Thanks to "Toot and Duno" for work well done!

Projection

The world is like a big mirror, or better yet a "Projector Screen." I am constantly blasting up on the screen exactly what I think, feel and who I believe myself to be... When I'm in love with me, I'm crazy about you; when I forgive myself, I have nothing against you; and when I'm filled with love and the knowledge of the truth, then it is a beautiful world indeed. (if the world is a dark and ugly place, then take some time and figure out who you're really mad at). When I see things clearly, then I can go about being a true Peace Maker.

The Journey

The more that I strive to walk a mile in another man's shoes, the harder it is for me to judge him... We ALL have unique journeys, and we all have reasons for the choices that we make. Life is about finding common ground and uncovering WHY we really do the things that we do. (I have become fascinated in the "other" man's journey, and that has made ALL the difference.)

Letter from Angola

I am beginning work on my next project: "Letter from Angola." God has put it on my heart to write about everything I am presently learning from these fascinating men inside of our nation's correctional system (both inmates and free world men). I intend to tell the truth, although I know that the truth is rarely popular, and this time will be no exception... I wonder how many really want to know what it is like for these forgotten ones. The Master called them "the least of these." As I sat there in this cell (below) I considered the difference in my journey, being white and privileged, versus many who happen to be poor and minority. My story, exactly the way it was, would be MUCH different if I was simply born to different parents, in a different neighborhood... More to come.

Angola Weekend

A weekend I will never forget... Here is a pic of my actual accomodations for the weekend at Angola. I know I'll never really know what a man feels who lives on this death row, but maybe a "glimpse" of it will help me remain grateful for all that I have and realize that it's never too late, at least not while we still have breath. (By the way, I am NOT innocent-- I just never got caught.)

Walk a Mile

Preparing for my trip today down to Angola State Prison in Louisiana... In prison work, Angola ("The Farm") is like Mecca-- prison ministers go there to learn. This is now a model prison that was transformed from the bloodiest prison in the country by a warden named Burl Cain (home of the famous Inmate Rodeo). He believed that the inmates should be treated with dignity and respect and given lots of faith-based programming and many other activities-- and it worked. Now one of the safest prisons, Angola houses over 3500 life sentence inmates. We will be sleeping in former death row cells, and I will get just a glimpse of what a man must feel on his first night "inside." I can't wait to fill you in upon my return-- see ya soon.

Gratitude

I absolutely love what I get to do with my life. I spend all day making friends with people that the world is either scared of or mad at. Then we simply try to show them some light and leave them some hope. Maybe this is just a glimpse of what He felt a couple thousand years ago and still feels today... It's a good life.

Angola

I am preparing for my trip this week to Angola State Prison in Louisiana. Angola sits on 18,000 acres in rural LA and is known as "The Farm." It is bordered on three sides by the Mississippi River. It currently houses over 5000 inmates, 3500 of whom are doing life sentences. Once the bloodiest and most deadly prison in the country, now it is one of the safest. They raise their own crops, cattle, fish and make many other products and services... 120 free world volunteers will spend the weekend there, and the inmates will teach us. I will spend Friday night and Saturday night in the “Old Death Row Cell Block D” and actually sleep in a single death row cell. This should be an enlightening and life changing experience. Stay tuned...

Your Verse

Stay in the flow today... There is a natural order of things; the way that He designed it all. Look for open doors, answered prayers, the right people showing up with exactly what you need (trust it). There is the truth, and then there is everything else-- stay in the truth and everything will work itself out exactly the way it is intended to. No coincidents, no mistakes; the amazing play goes on and you and I get to contribute a verse... make your verse count today.

Hope is the New Dope.

Do you know where the word "Dope" comes from? Dopamine... A naturally occurring chemical in the brain, dopamine is released in the brain in response to "anticipated reward." Several illegal drugs, such as cocaine, trigger the release of dopamine (addicts are actually chasing the increased dopamine levels, rather than the ingested drug). What is Hope? "To cherish a desire with anticipation and expectation." (Seeking a reward) Studies show that "hope" triggers the dopamine release and heals the body... My point? "Hope really IS the new Dope."

Creation

What if we get to the “other side” and discover that it really is this simple: whatever I focus on expands; whatever I give my attention to and dwell on, I attract; whatever I think of and speak about, I begin to create… What if He designed everything this way and I have been co-creating my life all this time? (you'd be amazed to know that there are many teachings about these things in His book) Would that change what gets your valuable attention today? Would that change what you allow to roll around in your mind or come out of your mouth? Perhaps we should be very deliberate as to what gets our focus and holds it. Or not, it’s totally up to you.

Go For It

You can do WHATEVER you truly wish to do... If you believe you can do it, if you have the ability to focus on it with consistency, and are willing to do whatever it takes to make it a reality, then you CAN do it-- its always been that way-- you've created many things in your life. So, stop making excuses and just do it already: fill out the application, go volunteer, copyright that idea, file the patent, book the trip, ask her out, share the idea, write your book, take that all important first step... In the end, we will regret not so much the things we did, but rather what we DID'NT do. (Go for it-- life is short)

HOPE

Heading to Philadelphia tonight for meetings tomorrow with Kairos Prison Ministries International and HOPE Worldwide... We intend to lay the groundwork to establish new prison ministries all across the country in a host of churches not yet engaged. Destiny

Today could be THE day... The day when EVERYTHING changes. Doors are opening; the big break is coming; prayers are being answered; what I seek is seeking me; the universe is conspiring on my behalf; my destiny awaits. It is on its way... I think I'll pay attention.

Focus

Focus, focus, focus... The more I learn, the more it appears that everything has to do with focus. What I focus on EXPANDS; what I focus on, my brain goes to work finding MORE of; what I focus on begins the "pull" of the law of attraction into my life: more of the SAME... So, what will I focus on today? I will make it my goal to focus on the things that the carpenter from Nazareth focused on: I will try to find His Father in EVERYTHING I see today.

HOPE

Today is a BIG day at the Alternative High School where we have piloted our "Power of Peace Project." Today we have our "41st Day Celebration" to reward the students for completing their "40 Days of Peace" pledge. We will have a presentation, several kids will read their papers on the "Champions of Peace" and they will receive their "Hope is the New Dope" T-shirts... Prayerfully, they have established some new habits and patterns and begun to look at the world in a fresh new way. If we have reached just one, then it has all been worth it. Transformation

Yesterday I got the chance to see a prison that has been transformed... Once a violent prison with little programming, now it is the model of respect and dignity toward these inmates with literally over 100 programs. These inmates sat with us and told us of the life that they now have (life sentence inmates) compared to the way it used to be... This gives me something to strive towards in the Georgia Department of Corrections (which should be about "Rehabilitation" rather than punishment) Lots of work to do-- and more importantly PRAYER.

Redemption

Heading to Columbus, Ohio this morning for a weekend event in a maximum security prison. (in the freezing rain and snow up there!) What does it say about me that I am absolutely stoked about it... There is something about these amazing "men in white" that calls me-- I suppose it's because I realize that I could have easily ended up where they are now. Amazing grace.

Your Miracle

I am absolutely having the time of my life. I never knew that life could be so exciting, so fulfilling... I am SO glad that I didn't give up when it was so tough there for a minute. Please don't give up five minutes before YOUR miracle happens-- it's all worth it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be enjoying life so much now if it hadn't been for the "storm." Hang in there-- it gets awesome, if you just persevere.

Gratitude

Do not underestimate the power of GRATITUDE... It is one of the most powerful mindsets. It can shift your emotional energy almost immediately. It can alter your perspective in the moment, and give you a powerful new vantage point. It has the power to mend heartaches, strengthen relationships and help you re-engage when you are stuck... Find your gratitude today, then express it and give it away-- it might just change your life. (the opposite mindset, self-pity, is also very powerful-- but in a much different way)

Light

Happy Birthday Bob Marley-- RIP... Bob Marley was set to do an outdoor concert, and just days before a gunman came to his home and shot him twice. Just two days later, he walked out on stage and performed as scheduled. Asked why, he said: "Those trying to make the world worse have not taken a day off, so how can I? Light up the darkness." Indeed, Light Up the Darkness.

Solution

The answer IS on its way... What you seek is seeking you: that phone call, that email; your good news, the check that is "in the mail"... that job offer, Mr. RIGHT, your pardon has arrived... that much needed "good report" is in; the solution to your conundrum is appearing as we speak... You will find exactly what you LOOK for today. Go and FIND your miracle. (Don't you deserve it?)

Trust

He’s everywhere all the time. He has all the power and nothing is impossible for Him. He knows all things and He has never made a mistake. His love is perfect; as a matter of fact, He IS love. He is good all the time, and all the time He is good. And He has His wonderful hands around YOU… Now, that big problem you’ve been so worried about; is it really that big after all? My God is SO much bigger than my little problems. It really just comes down to trust. As for me, I trust Him—no worries.

Light

A great day at Hays State Prison today... One of the high lites of our "Peace at Hays Meeting" was the sharing of good news about how the Peace Movement is gaining momentum: The men in C-1 Dorm pulled together some money and purchased a large quantity of store goods. They sent the items to D-2, which is one of the most dangerous dorms on the compound. This act of good will was done to encourage those inmates in D-2 that need peace, and to make a charitable gesture as an act of good faith-- one of the dorms that has been behaving the worst was able to enjoy a "feast" today, because of their brothers who are behaving the best... When it was announced, all the men broke into applause. Then we spoke about what motivated the men of C-1 to make such an unselfish decision and how other dorms should imitate their faith... Peace is on the move at Hays. Stay tuned.

Dreams and Visions

If you want to see where you've BEEN, look at your body. If you want to see where you are GOING, look at your mind... Thoughts become things, so I take captive EVERY thought and make it obedient to my goals, plans, dreams and visions. Carel...ess thoughts lead to careless decisions and actions, and my body goes only where I first visit in my mind. So today I will be strong in my mind and I'll pay close attention what I THINK-- that is where my dreams are born. (and also my nightmares)

Perfect Timing

Today I will meet EXACTLY who I am supposed to meet, IF I am awake and alert... Many people will pray for answers, rescue and assistance today and then go out and forget to look for His messengers. Today I am actively seeking His support and I am OPEN to receiving His reply-- in HIS time... I wish you open eyes today and a quick spirit. (the "answers" are all around you)

Perfect Love

I see the world as a huge mirror... The way that I see myself is what reflects back at me. When I walk in peace, power and love, then I see the world the same way. I have no fear as I walk in love, and I see YOU as a beautiful part of His creation. Perfect love drives out fear, and I have nothing but love for you... I am the projector, and this amazing world is the screen. What a truly wonderful world it is. Walk with me, and see Him in everything.

Victory

Historic day at the Cobb Performance Learning Center on Tuesday, as the entire student body at this alternative high school signed the Peace Pledge and began their "40 Days of Peace." They will be living by the 7 Steps to Peace, journaling every day, and writing a paper on one of their Champions of Peace: Gandhi, King or Mandela... I am SO proud of these young people and their enthusiasm and courage. The men at Hays State Prison, who began this work, are so proud to be their role models and inspiration-- they have new found purpose in their lives. This school and that prison will always be where it began... Will you take the 40 Day Challenge?

PEACE

Tomorrow is a big day... In honor of Dr. King's dream and MLK Day, the student body at Cobb Performance Learning Center (an alternative high school) will be signing the 40 Day Peace Pledge and beginning their "40 Days of Peace." This is the first of many high schools that will be taking the pledge across the country, as we start a Peace Movement for THIS generation. Mandela

A beautiful Miracle "showed up" today: I was interviewed by a South African film maker about our work and how Nelson Mandela is such an important force for change in the prisons and the schools where we serve. By the end of the project, he committed to bring us to South Africa this Summer, we taped a special personal message that will be delivered to Mr. Mandela, and our dream is now that we will meet with him this Summer and honor him for the impact his life and teachings are having on our inmates and troubled youth... God continues to amaze me as He expands our vision for His dream! (and I'm just thrilled to be along for the ride)

Potential

Who sets the limits for YOUR life? Boundaries, opportunities, obstacles, possibilities, potential-- aren't most of these self-made limits and set by our own BELIEFS? Remove the boundaries today and take off the cap; let God determine how far you can go and how big you can truly be... Believe that you were put here for a reason and that there are NO LIMITS to His vision and the possibilities are endless and unlimited for your life. (and by the way, age has nothing to do with potential)

Peace

Inertia

Inertia: “the property of matter by which it retains its state of rest or its velocity along a straight line, so long as it is not acted upon by an external force.” One good thing about a New Year’s Resolution is that it tends to get you M...OVING. The trick is to STAY moving in a positive direction. Do something today that gets your spiritual, mental, emotional and physical energy moving in the right direction. Then pay careful attention, and adjust your energy back in the right direction as soon as an “external force” tries to turn you around… It’s all about momentum. (Now go get ‘em)

Contrasts

Life is about contrasts… Joy hides in pain; growth comes from adversity; freedom comes through the struggle… Time allows us to look back and see that MANY times the events that felt like “Curses” turned out to be BLESSINGS, and the times that felt like “Blessings” sometimes were curses in disguise. Do you want to be joyous, happy and free? Try not to judge and resist LIFE as it happens. Just stay in the present and live and learn— Life has a way of working things out.

Possibilities

2012... Unlimited potential; boundless possibilities; immeasurable power; infinite options-- ANYTHING is possible… To believe or not to believe: It’s your New Year, and it’s YOUR call. (I say bring on the impossible)

SEAL

Powerful class up at the prison today… We taught SEAL Training techniques to inmate leaders about how to stay calm under pressure, control emotions, and visualize success on missions. It is all about Goal Setting, Arousal Control, Mental Rehearsal and Self Talk (or GAMS, as we call it). They were VERY engaged and now have new, more effective tools at their disposal to be able to better handle conflict in a tense and dangerous environment… All in all, a successful day.

Resolution

Now’s the time to begin to create your New Year’s Resolution; one that will STICK… Make a firm decision of something specific that you are GOING to change. Write it down. Create an affirmation around it, write it out and display it somewhere that you will see regularly. Begin to repeat this new “Power Thought” throughout the day, as if it has ALREADY been accomplished (get ridiculously familiar with the phrase and “wear it out” in your mind). Share your new conviction with someone you trust, who will hold you supportively accountable. Now take at least ONE step today that demonstrates your commitment to accomplishing your goal. Good News

Good news: heading back to L.A. the first week of January to meet with a film maker who is interested in our "Power of Peace Project." This film is about the history of the L.A. Gang Wars and we would be featured for our work with gangs on the “inside” of maximum security prisons… Also, just got booked on a TV Show that films in April out in Hollywood as well (same subject matter). God is good, and more prayers are always welcome!

Shift

Important day up at the prison. The Deputy Warden allowed us to call out specific inmates of our choosing that happen to be very influential in their respective dorms. We had an impromptu “Peace Council” meeting and brainstormed as to how we can change the momentum and begin to bring peace to some of the most violent dorms on the compound. I respect these men so much. They take a stand in a very dangerous place, and are willing to stand out for peace and positive change. Some of the ideas that came out of today’s meeting could very well lead to a significant shift… Keep the prayers coming-- we feel the power!

The Power of Believing

There is incredible power in BELIEVING. We are always affecting change by simply believing. It matters not whether you are aware of this phenomenon, for its power is always at work. You cut your finger, and it heals because you believe it will. You plant a seed, and it grows because you EXPECT it to and believe that it should. The “Power of Belief” does not judge between good and bad, it just manifests what you expect in life… God has given us this amazing and indescribable power to co-create. So what do YOU believe? For me, I believe that 2012 is going to be the BEST year of my life; that I am getting younger; that more and more money will flow in, because money is good for the good that it can do for others; that I am healthy and getting stronger every day; that 2012 is THE year of miracles (I believe these things because of who HE is, and in spite of who I am)… What do you believe? Pay attention to your expectations— they carry unbelievable POWER.

Prayer Warriors

I’m in need of some REAL Prayer Warriors… A gang war up at Hays State Prison has caused several lock downs and has everything on edge. Gary and I really need to be able to take our program into the dorms in order to reach the ones that can turn the tide. However, right now administration will not let us go into the areas where the inmates live, because they fear that we could create a hostage situation. So, we are calling on “Men of Faith” in each of those dorms to fast and pray for open doors, and to break the hold of the enemy there. Will you join them? Please fast from something and pray for PEACE at Hays State Prison this season. Too many men have been hurt, and there a many more there who want peace than the ones who want violence—the enemy is just outworking us. This is a Call to Battle, for all who have the faith for it.

Life

It’s a WONDERFUL life… Good times and bad; richer or poorer; sickness and health. It will either make you better or bitter; softer or harder; giving or grasping; loving or leaving; more like HIM or more like them… It’s all in how you SEE things. See things the way you wish them to be; and please don’t waste ANY of it— all of it is intended to make you into the person you were destined to be: just like the Source.

Joy

What an inspiring day up at Hays State Prison… Today was “Family Day” for all the men in the Faith & Character Program, and we had a graduation program (complete with caps & gowns), breakfast and lunch, and a great time meeting their parents, wives, brothers and sisters, and beautiful little children. These times are absolutely the happiest times for these men that are doing very long, if not life sentences. To watch them hug their loved ones and show off their little children truly warms the heart. You feel a hope and joy on this day in that dangerous place that rarely if ever happens there. These men are real, and human, and there is still PLENTY of love inside of them. May God bless these “men of peace” at this maximum security camp.

Boldness

"No weapon forged against you shall prevail." Wow, what a promise and commitment from the ultimate Protector... Claim it, and walk boldly in His name-- every place you set your foot is YOURS today. I will not walk in fear, for fear is the absence of LOVE. (and I got nothin' but love for ya)

Partners

What a weekend so far in Texas... Two large, powerful non-profit organizations have become SO important in my life and my work: HOPE Worldwide and Kairos Prison Ministries International. My dream has been that these two wonderful entities can partner and help one another-- for HOPE to develop a ministry for the incarcerated and for Kairos to be able to utilize HOPE's young, energetic volunteer bas...e around the nation... Yesterday after I spoke, the dream became a reality. Both of these organizations agreed to develop a partnership and help one another continue to help even more people in crisis. God is SO good, and I'm just thrilled to be at the party. (BIG thanks to Antonio Boyd and Ed Keefer)

Belief

Why not focus on what you DESIRE today, rather than what you dread and fear? So many people will go through today focusing their valuable thoughts and attention on their worries and doubts, instead of their dreams and desires-- not knowing that they are helping build their own nightmares! Great Debate

Great day up at the prison. We announced the next phase in The Power of Peace Project. We will have a series of "Great Debates" as individual dorms will "battle" one another. A dorm will choose a representative and he will square off against another inmate in a debate forum in front of the whole group. We choose the topic, set the rules, and assign positions... In the end, the inmates will learn to use their minds and words to persuade and resolve conflict, rather than resorting to violence. We will use a round-by-round championship model... I can't wait!

Guard Your Mind

Imagine the potential of a thought. Or the power of an idea. String a few together and you have an invention, a new discovery, or a revolution... Guard your MIND today; observe your thoughts and what you allow to flow through; especially what you allow to linger. It is the space where miracles are birthed and all things are possible; but also the place of nightmares... THINK about it, and choose your thoughts wisely-- they are the raw materials of EVERYTHING we create.

Angels

I am so blessed to be able to speak to and teach so many different types of people: young and old, all colors, faiths and economic backgrounds. However, this morning was particularly special. I had the opportunity to speak to a group of autistic, young adults. These were the most intelligent, fascinating, beautiful young men that I have had the privilege to meet. I learned SO much... I felt as if I had spent a couple of hours with a group of angels; and perhaps I did.

What If

What if... What if you saw the GOOD in everyone you met today. What if you LOOKED for the answers to all your prayers today. What if you BELIEVED all of God's promises today. Appointments

Divine Appointments... Today as I go about my business, I will run across countless strangers to me. Some I will recognize, others will be brand new acquaintances. Will I be alert and paying attention to truly "see" the ones that God has put in my path? Some will be there for me to help, encourage or serve as He intends. Others will be sent with something that I might need as I travel along my journey... If I'm awake and paying careful attention, I just might meet an answer to my prayers. Will you be ALERT today and show up for your "Divine Appointment"?

Change

What do you want to be when you grow up? Did you know that over 90% of your physical body is less than 10 years old? It only takes the body about 6 months to produce a brand new liver. Every minute, your body is creating and releasing billions of cells... So if your body is constantly changing, then why can't YOU change? You can be WHATEVER you want to be. So, what do YOU want to be today? Go and make it so.

Break-Through

Imagine dozens of inmates together in a gymnasium at a tough maximum security prison. They come from different cities, different cultures, different ethnic backgrounds, and in some cases different gangs. Most don't know each other, and some really don't like each other-- some are even former enemies... Get the picture? Now imagine them arm in arm, dancing and singing "Lean On Me." Laughter fills the room, and later they are hugging and even shedding tears together... This is truly a place where MIRACLES happen. Stay tuned.

Belief

What you believe to be true today makes ALL the difference... Is there plenty or never enough; is this world a friendly place or a very dark one; is YOUR market strong or weak; is there good news everywhere or only drama; are you the answer to someone's prayer or just another sad story... You see, what YOU believe IS true. At least it is for you. (See the world the way you wish it to be today)

Plenty

"Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” So what if it all comes down to this: Plenty vs. Lack. Do you live in a world of abundance or scarcity; prosperity or poverty; enough or NEVER enough? Maybe we'll get to the other side and realize that we had SO much more power than we ever realized, and it all came down to what we believed to be true... As for me, I CHOOSE to live in a world of PLENTY today. (He's got it all, and HE never lacks anything)

Truly Amazing

Something truly amazing is happening at the Maximum Security Prison that has become our Field of Dreams... Yesterday, as men from different gangs, races, and faiths gathered for our Peace Initiative Meeting, one man came in that everyone knew. He is the leader of one of the biggest gangs in the prison and known among inmates throughout the GA correctional system. As he spoke, you could hear a pin drop... He began to shed tears in front of his brothers AND his enemies and called for CHANGE. It was one of the most powerful moments I have experienced to date. Don't stop BELIEVING.

NOW

Anxiety, fear and worry? They typically live in the future... Regret, shame and sadness? They typically live in the past... The power to change and co-create your miracle? I don't know about you, but nowadays I hear more complaining, excuse-making and blame-shifting than EVER before. It is truly rare when I hear someone take complete responsibility for their situation... 40 Days can change your life. Will you take the "40 Day Challenge" like so many others I have challenged recently? For the Next 40 Days: "I will not complain, make excuses, or blame anyone. I will take FULL responsibility for my own choices and actions. Period." Are you in? If so, journal your results and be amazed at what you find. Visualize

Take a moment, close your eyes, and visualize the BEST version of you: the best weight, attitude, health, clothing, smile, determination, amount of money in your wallet, posture, countenance, spirituality, joy, mental toughness, clarity in your eyes, everything-- the very best YOU... Now take a mental picture, burn it into your mental hard drive, and GO make it so. (And tell the first excuse that pops up that you're not buying from him anymore)

Perfect Love

Fear is an illusion; merely the absence of LOVE. Add love to any experience, thought, or relationship, and fear vanishes— it simply disappears. In the same way that darkness flees when a light is turned on, fear dissipates when love arrives… Try it today with your biggest worry: Perfect love drives out fear. Always.

What a great time last night speaking to the wonderful women at the Metro Transitional Center... The joyful and hopeful spirit is contageous, and I look forward to going back and seeing my sisters again. Though a righteous man falls seven times, he RISES again.

Open Minds

What an amazing week in New England... I am SO impressed with Kairos: this wonderful non-profit organization that has been doing what they do for 35 years, in 34 states and 9 foreign countries, with 30,000 volunteers, in 350 prisons-- and they are SO open and excited about the "40 Days of Peace" that is going so well at Hays State Prison, and determined to find a way to partner with me. So many organizations at their level would not even bother to consider something radically new, but these beautiful people are all about staying open to HIS will, and in step with HIS Spirit... A great example indeed.

The Good Stuff

This life is AMAZING: possibilities, opportunities and potential; always something new, never the same ole same ole, and definitely never boring; new people, new adventures, new exploits... This life is definitely amazing. Don't believe the hype, and most definitely don't believe all those who want to tell you that life stinks... The "not knowing what will happen next" is the good stuff. Just LIVE.

Never Give Up

Don't ever give up. I mean never... Hang on to your dream, and don't take no for an answer... What if you quit five minutes before the miracle happens? Just don't give up. Ever. Somebody NEEDS what you do... Just go DO it.

Peace Reigns

Great news from the prison yesterday... We met with the warden and he confirmed that violent incidents, fights and attacks are down significantly from 2010. (we'll get hard numbers at the end of the year) He can't remember a Summer as "quiet" as this one (violence always increases the hotter it gets, because there is no air conditioni...ng in the dorms and everyone is "on edge")... 2010 was one of the most violent years in the recent past. The only difference this year? We started the Peace Initiative on Jan 18th 2011, the day after MLK Day. Give peace a chance-- miracles are happening in a dangerous and deadly place. It can happen ANYWHERE.

Today

What if today was the day... The day your dream comes true. The day you find EXACTLY what you're looking for. The day that special person finds you. The day your ship comes in. The day you have that "million dollar idea." The day you're in the right place, at the right time, with just the right answer... You know, THE day. It'll be THE day for millions around the world today; why not YOU? Wouldn't it make more sense to assume that today is your day, instead of the opposite? Just Imagine

Amazing

Amazing developments at the prison today... We had the follow up Peace Rally for the men who signed up for the Peace Initiative when we made our way through all the dorms delivering the Peace message a couple of weeks ago... Today we met with a packed house and talked about "True Strength and Power" using Gandhi, King and Mandela as o...ur examples, and we called them to a purpose greater than themselves. You could have heard a pin drop as we preached and dreamed together of a NEW Hays State Prison-- one where Peace Reigns... And we had a whole new cast of characters present today; some who are powerful and dangerous men, who are now considering the power of LOVE instead of darkness and fear. Please keep working Father... I stand in awe of your power and might.

Perspective

Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at CHANGE... Perhaps there is a different perspective to your current situation: maybe this hardship is going to make you tougher; maybe that loss is providing space for your answered prayer to show up; maybe that struggle is going to increase your faith; and just maybe that injury is going to help you develop a weakness... Perceived "curses" are very often blessings in disguise-- it all depends on your perspective.

What a truly fascinating day... My partner Gary and I went into ALL 15 dorms at Hays State Prison and delivered 15 individual messages on PEACE (I've never preached so many messages in a row to so many different audiences-- three straight hours)... We got some great receptions, some heckling, encountered some hatred, a few veiled threats, and also tremendous support. The amazing thing was that by the end of EVERY message, we had the inmate's attention and respect. MANY men signed onto our Peace Movement, and so the story continues... Stay tuned, and give PEACE a chance.

Assignment

What if you came into this world with a specific assignment, a mission designed just for YOU... No one else can complete this journey like you can, because you were thoroughly and uniquely equipped for this purpose. Perhaps ALL that you have gone through, good, bad and ugly was designed to prepare you to complete this assignment... Ma...ybe life is all about finding your unique role and doing your individual part. Who knows, maybe you agreed and committed to it before you entered this world? Stress

Feeling "stressed out" today? Stress is the product of resistance... Stop fighting things and people that you cannot control. Focus on what you CAN change and give your valuable energy and attention to that. You'll find that what you focus on EXPANDS and what you resist you only strengthen. Expectation

"Expectation" is powerful. Great progress with our "Peace Council" at the prison today... After having a "hostile meeting" a couple of weeks ago, we have made huge strides the last two weeks by getting the disruptive elements out of the room and refocusing on our purpose, vision and staying in the SOLUTION... It is fascinating watching these men come together for a dream that is greater than themselves-- I'm learning SO much.

Become

Another amazing day at the prison yesterday... We are facilitating and mediating talks between rival gangs in one of the most dangerous prisons in the state-- some say the country. To watch these men learn to work together and make decisions that will save lives, is one of the most powerful things I've ever witnessed. Yesterday it was decided that they will allow me and my associate Gary to begin to teach in all the dorms-- very important development and significant policy change... If it can happen there, it can happen ANYWHERE. Stay tuned...

Dreams

It all starts with a DREAM, a longing in the heart for something greater than yourself... Then you begin to think about it constantly and an honorable obsession begins to develop. That engages your emotions and you find yourself being called to this holy pursuit. You then begin to speak of it and the power of your words mysteriously b...egin to create your desired outcome. On my way back up to the prison. Amazing results with the Peace Initiative continue. Violence has decreased since we began our Peace Talks, however, recently the staff confiscated 110 "shanks" in a shakedown in ONE of the dorms... Much work still to be done. Please pray for these Peace Warriors.

White House Trip!

Heading to DC tonight... I am very excited to have been invited to the White House tomorrow with HOPE Worldwide-- a wonderful non-profit organization celebrating 20 years of service work around the globe. Last night at the prison was SO inspiring... We dealt with the sensitive issue of "Time"... For these young men, most of whom are doing long sentences (or life sentences) "time" is a hot topic. We spoke about staying PRESENT in the moment, and not allowing "time" to be an obstacle, merely a means to an end, or an enemy. They committed to trying to be present in EVERY moment over the next week, and not to stay stuck in the past or worried about the future... If THEY can do it, do you think you can? Peace Developments

Great news: TBN has confirmed that we will be airing a 30 minute segment on May 24th featuring the "Prison Peace Initiative" that I have been privileged to develop and witness at Hays State Prison. We begin shooting the promo next week... More details to follow. (But HE definitely seems to be up to something)

Movement

Significant progress with the Peace Council at Hays State Prison. Each week we have begun meeting with the inmate leaders for a "round table discussion." This week we created a practical way for gang leaders to stop attacks before they happen, and we are also discussing ways to provide incentives for inmates that engage in the Peace Movement. These developments were unthinkable a year ago in Georgia's most dangerous prison. God is up to something...

Progress

Great news from the prison last night... The warden noted that since we officially began the "Peace Initiative" a few weeks ago at Hays State Prison, there have been NO stabbings. This is significant in one of the most dangerous prisons in the state, where 300 of the 1000 in general population are doing life sentences and have very little to lose-- and where attacks typically happen weekly, if not daily... Please keep these bold Freedom Fighters in your prayers!

Peace

The Peace Movement is well underway at Hays State Prison... The warden has approved a weekly "Peace Meeting" that I will be facilitating with the inmate leaders at this maximum security prison. Leaders of the main gangs, Muslims and Christian community will be represented at this round table, as we will be discussing solutions, obstacles, opportunities and incentives for peace in this dangerous environment. Please pray for us, and especially for a young man named Andre-- he is a former gang leader and is now leading this movement from the inside; and not everyone WANTS peace. May God's will be done.

Good News

Ask everyone you see today for some "Good News." You'll be amazed what you find: it will help people focus on all that is GOOD and redirect their focus/energy... If they don't have any, ask them to call you when they do-- that will encourage them to LOOK for some (and we tend to find what we look for!) Help me start a "Good News Movement" today.

Adventure

What if life were predictable? Always the same; no surprises, no "Plan B", no improvisation... People would STILL be complaining-- about the monotony of it all. As it is, at least it's never boring. I wouldn’t know good times without the bad; I wouldn't understand light without the darkness; no courage without fear; no victory without defeat; no pleasure without the pain... Thank God for the adventure of it all-- it beats the heck out of the alternative.

Wow... The "First 40 Days" at the Maximum Security Prison was a miracle in itself. The point man for my "Inside Team" is an amazing young man. He completed the 40 day journal and it is inspiring, brilliant and compelling. In it, we get to look inside the mind of a life sentence inmate doing his ALL to be used by God to bring about Peace in a very dangerous place... Stay tuned.

Peace

On January 18th, 2011, twelve men at a dangerous maximum security prison signed a “Peace Pledge.” Following the example of men like Gandhi, King, Mandela and Jesus of Nazareth, they set out to see if they could live in peace with the men that reside in Georgia’s toughest prison. “40 Days of Peace” began on the 25th anniversary of MLK Day and would continue for the following forty days. These twelve men chronicled their success, struggles and failures; bold men, some of whom are former gang members serving life sentences. What happened next is that they unknowingly started a Peace Movement that would continue to spread to many other state prisons. The “Seven Peace Initiatives” that they committed to and the transformation that followed is the subject of Kit Cummings’ new work and next book. Dr. King’s Dream lives on, and light shines brightest in the darkness… Stay tuned, and give PEACE a chance.

True Freedom

The "Young Freedom Fighters" Group at the Maximum Security Prison where I am privileged to serve, signed their self-crafted "Peace Pledge" tonight in honor of Dr. King's holiday-- in my presence (after they fasted all weekend to prepare)... Among other things, they committed to the following for the next 40 days: 1) I will do my very ...best to live in peace with my fellow inmates and officers. 2) I will not provoke or disrespect my fellow man. 3) If provoked, I will not retaliate. 4) If cursed, I will not curse back. 5) I will not lie, cheat, or steal. 6) When I am wrong, I will promptly admit it, and quickly make amends. 7) I will treat all people with the respect with which I wish to be treated... These courageous young men are out to make a difference in this very dangerous place, where some of them will spend the rest of their natural lives. I stand in awe and truly amazed at the power of God.
